Saw True Grit last night . Thought it would have been a lot better if i hadn't seen and loved the origional so much . I thought none of the actors did as well as their counterparts in the origional .

Took mini-mariner to "Gnomeo & Juliet" yesterday. Its a pretty funny little kids movie with plenty of little adult laughs in it too. Plenty of famous voices giving it some star power. If you are in need of timeout with the kids, you could do a lot lot worse than sliding along to this one with them.
The Mechanic (2011). Pretty good disposable action flick. Entertaining and well paced. Statham brings the ownage.
<br />

Yep, agree, provides you with exactly what you expect from it... -
Watched Black Swan a week ago - Anything with Natalie Portman doing naughty lesbian things to Natalie Portman is worth a Nobel fucking Peace Prize.<br />
And if anyone here disagrees I will come to your house and punch you in the throat.<br />

Early nomination for post of the year! -
watched The Kings Speech. <br />
<br />
Thought it was fine, maybe 7/10, although Firth was superb in his role, as was his speech therapist/coach...? <br />
<br />
and Sneak, that is funny!! -
Get Low is an interesting yarn well worth a watch. Old hermit has his funeral arranged for him while still alive, wont ruin the plot from there for you.<br />
Lovebirds, the new Rhys Darby romcom is reasonable with plenty of laughs and makes Auckland look far more appealing than it really is. -
The Fighter; as already mentioned, Christian Bale is pretty damned good in this! Wahlberg is pretty good too, although I had a very hard time believing he was 66kg!<br />
<br />
Wasn't as good of a movie as I thought expected it to be, enjoyable, easy to watch with some superb acting, but a little slow moving, if not predictable (which given based on a true story make it's tough to make it less I guess...) not to mention some of the fight scenes were poorly choreographed -
I watched Boy the other day, it was kind of depressing, could have been a really good drama, or a really good comedy but it fell somewhere inbetween and suffered for it I reckon.
<br />
Going by the box office and DVD sales 99% of the country tends to disagree with you. <br />
<br />
I think it was ok, there were a few shifts in tone but I don't think they hurt the film.<br />
<br />
Saw 127 Hours last night. Good film. James franco does a good job as pretty much the focus of the whole film. A bit of a harrowing story though. I'm keen to read the book now. -
According to the box office, Twilight, The Phantom Menace and Transformers ROTF are cinematic masterpieces.
<br />

not to mention Boyzone (or whatever those artists of a generation were called) sit alongside The Beatles...<img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> -
I'm having a bit of a doco season at the moment and here is another<br />

Wasteland - story of a Brazilian artist who goes to the largest refuse dump in Rio and engages the "trash pickers" in creating art from the recyclable waste. Great story, happy ending, and a few heart string pulling moments
