@Rapido wont know until we bat now will we...
If Kane goes, I almost wouldn't back us to be 100-6 in any conditions. That's how bad I reckon we are now.
I said 'almost'.

Have only just started watching. What is the consensus, is 100-6 pretty good for the conditions?
Not really. Several of the shots to get out were quite poor and it hasn't been unplayable.
That de Grandhomme has four of the wickets is a bit indicative. A few who've taken a look and thought, "what's this crap... I think I'll help myself...".
Pakistanis looking very underdone.

By today's standards on TSF (and Cricinfo for that matter) that must translate into 300/2 by close of play...

Well, de Grandhomme really has booked his place in the side for the next 3 seasons.

Statistically he's the greatest black caps bowler ever, this early in his test career.

He probably has, especially with Larsen as selector loving a mini-Gav.
But really it should gone down to his batting. He's a 6 who can bowl some useful seam up.
His batting is definitely talented. He eats NZ medium pacers and nude spinners for breakfast when on song. Problem with CdG is his brain.
( I have no idea how he technically bats when it is difficult, turning, swinging or seaming. I haven't paid him too much attention as I assumed his brain/temperament would rule him out of higher honours in red ball cricket )
