speaking of scrums, I haven't checked back for the discussion, but holy shit what was with the non-hooking scrums there for a patch of the game!
I understand there is all sorts of pressure going on in there, but um, I wonder why a hooker is called a hooker
I think the first two were penalties, then everyone sorted their shit out, and the locks pretty much cancelled each other out.
The scrum before the non-try went on for like 12 seconds after the ball was put in.
Great to watch.
-
don't think they were penalties, was in the first half just inside the Aussie half, the ball was just sitting in the channel until the scrum collapsed, Todd hooked it back one time, 2 of the 3 times it ended up at the back of our side, I think this happened 3 times before Gold 9 threw it under the 2nd rows feet so we could get on with shit...was when there was a decent Mexican wave.

It's another way of scrumming, the Argies have done it for years. Look to put pressure on and walk over the ball.
I loved the scrum battle, and dont think we dominated as much as some have said, Also think Ownes reffed them really well. As mentioned above Perenara was much worse than Phipps at putting the ball in not straight

I meant the first two scrums in the game. Sio got pinged at the first one and then I think Franks at the second?
both looked like correct calls to me too, Franks looked bemused as hell. But his penalty was exactly what Sio got done for repeatedly in the England series earlier this year

The NZ Herald has a video of Foley clearly missing the first conversion that was awarded. I thought he had missed it when I watched it live. This test match just continues to spring up controversies.

I guess you have to trust the AR's who were standing right there, and I would expect a few ABs woulda been watching it too.
Musta been tough conditions out there for kicking though....
-
Nah that missed
I am off to write an article about how the protocol for conversions needs to change.OUTRAGED!!!
-
@Baron-Silas-Greenback or do away with conversions altogether, that would actually suit us with the way BB has been kicking anyway!
-
Now it seems as though we know why Cheika was bringing up the bugging again after no one mentioning it after 1.5 months. The NSW police - who no doubt are in the pocket of All Black management - appear to closing in on the culprit and questioned Wallabies management at ARU headquarters over the past week.

See the thing is we've now had 15 pages of you guys frothing about Aussie 'whingeing'. Admit it - you fucking LOVE IT.
While you may complain, and cry out 'look at these losers' and turn the outrage meter up to 11, it warms the cockles of your dark Kiwi souls.
Here is a little bit of reality, though. Other than the Kafer article, the response here in the media is largely... silence. It's the Tuesday after the game, and I think in your heads our papers are full of ranting and raving from pundits about Owens costing us the match. But it isn't.
The SMH today had two rugby articles. One about the NH tour, and one (shock!) from NZ about Cheika losing the plot, and how he needs to reign it in. The News press had one article about Cheika's tactics which was more positive, but did include the phrase "The Wallabies don’t have the same class and depth as the All Blacks so they need fire and brimstone, and importantly, confidence."
Fortunately (or unfortunately) there just isn't the outrage factor.
Put it this way, I don't think we will be posting an interview with Nigel Owens in 9 years time on these boards, with people still disecting the decisions he made in that game...
-
actually, there are no longer pages, just one big long one....sheesh, get it right

Ahhh Touché
-
@barbarian TBF, the fact there was the interview with him, that specifically mentioned it, are you surprised it was posted?
If in 8 years someone did interview Owens and he specifically mentions this call, I expect some in Aus would take notice of it.
-
I never denied it!

@barbarian it was funny listening to Melbourne sports radio this morning (SEN) and they have this "who's on the struggle bus this week" segment. They had Michael Cheika. They were ferrying stuck into his comments and didn't buy into the ABs are responsible for the clown cartoon. Yes it's a predominantly AFL radio station, but the morning guys know their sport beyond AFL and aren't like NRL folks that want to talk any other sport down to boost their one.
And I certainly agree with them.

Yeah that whole "our game, toughest fucken athletes on the fucken planet maaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttteeeeeeee" shit that spouts from NRL media folk gets really tiresome.

At the same time, in QLD is writing "best thing for the game here" articles in relation to Cheika firing up.
No such thing as bad publicity?
