Ex-Army. Used to spend 2 Fridays a month actually working in one of his firms customer-facing areas. Knew the business and people inside out. Rare breed.

Right. Lengthy, but I need The Fern's platform to vent...
I have a Windows 11 PC which acts as Media Server and does background stuff like backups, market downloads and that sort of shit. It also doubles as my desktop. Zero problems in the last 2 years - even with remote access.
The network card in my WiFi-connected printer developed a problem. Can't be arsed disassembling and fixing, so just plugged into a USB port on said Windows 11 PC with the intention of simply sharing the printer. Can't be difficult right? This sort of shit's worked fine since Win 95 and is a piece of cake, right? Plugged in, loaded the drivers, ran a print page and shared the thing. Go on laptop to access printer, enter credentials and nothing. Zero Zip nada. After 10 minutes a warning about being locked out of the account on the Windows 11 PC comes up.
Fuck me. what an absolute pain to sort this shit out. Registry changes, RP Call settings, SMB settings, Credentials flushed and re-entered, Admin Templates, Device security setting, Server security settings tweaked - all as per MSNET or what ever name the MS Support site is called this week. Absolute fucking nightmare. After multiple re-boots and tweaks, it finally worked.
For three fucking hours.
Today, I finally figured/found out what the morons at MS had done and it's just so mind-bogglingly stupid it beggars belief. Win 11 will only accept a share or credential if you've logged on after a re-boot using your password. Log in using a finger scanner or PIN and any new shares can't be accessed. This after having pushed biometrics and PINs on people to access anything,
Oh, and did I tell you they fucking forgot to tell anyone?

I love it probably more than most on here but fuck me, do we need to have it blaring every time there's a sign of a break during a test match ?
Shit, some of the songs were bangers too but geez it grates after a short while. It must piss the players off.
"Why does love do this to me?" and "Hey Baby ( ooo ah ), I wanna know if you'll be my girl" should both be put on some sort of banned list punishable by death to whoever plays them.
