Any more empty platitudes of positivity guys are we willing to admit we have a serious problem?
Main ones being inexperience and a genuine 10 we can build around. I think it’s pretty clear to see
Millar is the most stable 10 we have. Robertson’s passing is shocking. Don’t know why we aren’t allowing Millar the game time.
But it’s a lot more than a 10 and inexperience.
I think a 10 and inexperience is a pretty good starting point though.
Probably the key for any team to be successful. Just look at the Canes tonight. We have a better 10, we win that game every day of the week.
We have a 10 that Otago/Highlanders have been investing in for the last 2-3 years. Millar had a great NPC season to the point some were saying he was unlucky to miss the ABs XV team (whether he should have made it is another question) but he was playing well. He was kicking and passing well, and his attacking game was improving. Instead we parachute in an average 10 that has limited upside and doesn’t do the basics particularly well.

@Canes4life 100%. Until Robinson or Millar takes further steps ahead, we will remain where we are.
The Landers aren’t far off but like you say, a good 10 running the ship makes a massive difference.

Millar is worth a go but he's fairly limited himself. I don't think the Landers would be in a much different spot with him at 10.
He can pass, kick and makes limited unforced errors. It’s an improvement

Been our worst display of rhe year

What the fuck was that phase play? That was genuinely awful. Complete lack of leadership and direction.
-
Fk sake Lennox. You went completely the wrong way there.

@Bones Lennox is out there tonight, you may be referring to him. May as well be Sean Romans out there at this point, wouldn’t look any different
My bad, Lennox looks the same too!

The only difference between this game and any other game is we didn’t have Tangitau, Tavatavanawai, or Hurley scoring an individually brilliant try. We need to be honest here and admit the basics that should have been developed at school level aren’t there. We have a serious lack of leadership and direction. You can’t but that down to inexperience as those unforced errors shouldn’t even happen at NPC level. This team needs a serious refocus in mindset and basic skill set. Shoot this down all you want and say it’s negative, but it’s just calling a spade and spade. It’s looking like a 3-4 win season if we’re lucky.

Disagree. He made great strides at the end of the Super Rugby and through the NPC.
At the very least he can control the game with his boot.

There were plenty of average performances. Gilbert was back to missing tackles and dropping the ball.
Whatever could go wrong in the 2nd half did.
The Otago based highlanders have a shocking habit of shooting up and in, missing the tackle, and giving space on the outside. It’s infuriating how much they do it and it never works. Anyone who watches Otago during the NPC will know what I’m talking about. It’s so predictably terrible
