Geez and I had Blues to win this in my picks. And as a matter of principle I don't allow myself to change them!!!! Still should make sure I stay around bottom of table!

Bad comparison, at least compare him to someone that gets on the park.

Ummm... wouldn't that make him an upgrade?

Scoring 5 tries in your debut game of the season is a little more than a 'slight' upgrade when comparing him to someone that never plays.

Don't be an idiot, Lowe has certainly played before. As has been pointed out, he's also scored tries...

I'd take Springer as an upgrade on Lowe at the highlanders. Wouldn't be happy with him in front of Jim, Caleb or Hurley though.

In 16 games for the Highlanders since 2023, Lowe has scored 3 tries. Over his 38 appearances in Super since 2018 he's only scored 10 tries. The fact Springer scored half of Lowe's career tally in one game proves my point that Springer is more than just 'slightly' better than Lowe.

Tangitau is a gun, so I agree there, he's an AB this year if Razor has any sense. Haven't seen too much of Hurley on the wing but I'd take him over Springer if we are comparing them at fullback. Jim, well he seems destined to be in the midfield going forward even though he's been selected on the wing this week.

Comparing Jonah Lowe to Macca Springer is very harsh. FWIW, I think Springer is yet to show anything at Super Rugby level that suggests he is anything better than a fast winger with good footwork (e.g George Bridge). This might be enough to get him selected in the ABs, but if they go for the dual fullback model on the right wing (Narawa/Jordan), then that leaves room for a power winger on the left, with the two incumbents being Clarke and Tele'a. Sevu Reece is also ahead of Springer, and I would imagine Caleb Tangitau is as well.

The fact that you believe the amount of tries a player scored in one demolition of the opposition, without taking any context into consideration, makes your argument as weak as Jonah Lowe scoring 4 tries against one opposition.

    Assuming they are all out

Tuipulotu - McWhannel will start but we are almost out of locks in the squad. Suafoa isn't listed as injured so I guess he comes onto the bench

Eklund - based on previous selections Mullan starts and Pole on the bench. Almost zero experience between them

Papali'i - All three opensides are missing (DP, Choat and Segner). Hainsworth-Fa'aofo would be useful now.. he hasn't been playing in the dev side so I assume he's injured? Clark onto the bench and we don't have a specialist 7 in the 23? Maybe Pieta is an option?

    Have I missed anyone?

The injuries are starting to feel like 2012

Yeah not expecting much tomorrow now. 2015 and 2018 were the same too, where we were going round the local club rugby scene to find players haha.

Still, no point feeling sorry for ourselves, good chance for a few youngsters to make a name for themselves.

I read/heard that Suafoa's unavailability is related to his cancer. Hopefully nothing serious.

Well that makes things difficult. The only other lock option in the squad is starting at 6. Pick another loosie and have no specialist locks on the bench?

Any other locks training with the squad?

Is this the situation that they can get a loan player from one of the other franchise WTG’s?

Springer has scored 13 tries in 19 games which equates to a 68% strike rate and he's only 22. Yes, he scored five tries in one game but considering that was his first appearance of the season, it can't be underestimated. Lowe would have fluffed half the opportunities Springer had over the weekend because as we all know, he's just not that good.

Lowe, in his 8th season with 10 tries has a 26% strike rate but apparently Springer is only slightly better than Lowe.

    Real good argument from you.

Skimming through the dev team games they've used Jack Lee, Hallam-Eames & Randall Baker. Two those are very young

How's Tom Robinson's head? He was around Blues HQ this week
