@African-Monkey yeah Segner also.doesnt seem someone who targets turnovers anyway, high work rate with tackling and ruck work, meaning the blues.are missing someone to put turnover pressure on.

Really had 3 6's out there last night in the loose.

Beehre is a talent, and Cam Christie looks the business too, always good to see quality young players come through.

Segner very much reminds me of Blackadder.

Just watching it now. Feel bad for the blues. Lineout at 76:30 was not contested. So then the not straight doesn’t matter? Shouldn’t that be play on with the current rules?

Yeah they have been fantastic. Darry did improve last year, but could Beehre end up being better than him? He's probably been our best player so far.

@African-Monkey Not as tall, but seems more physical. Some really good carrying and tackling. Will be interesting to see how his cleaning and general ruck work develops.

On the other hand, maul work and set piece. We really miss Ioane there.

No, your team has to actually jump for it not to matter. It has to be a contestable ball before the not straight doesn't count, otherwise you can just chuck it too halfback.

I see the blues lost. Again. But I thought vern cotter was the guy who would have made the ABs great, especially with his world class number 8.

Maybe international coaching is harder than club coaching?

I followed vern a bit when he coached at Clermont. He’s good but he also lost quite a few crunch matches with Clermont especially at European level.

    Sotutu wasn't playing.

Agree on both points. I really can't see us getting a play off spot from here in honesty. If it was still the top 8 then yeah, maybe (glad it's not btw), but it's looking like an uphill battle now. We really needed to be at least 2 from 4 to stay in touch.

    Am I backwards here?

Play on from not-straight lineout throws: If the non-throwing team does not lift a teammate to compete for the ball, then play shall continue. If the non-throwing team lifts a teammate to compete for the ball, a free kick is awarded to the non-throwing team.

This was an embarrassing display for a few players (Forbes, Tele'a, F. Christie, Ofa T, Pole) who did their best to lose this very winnable game. BB's goalkicking was well below par too. But beyond the poor display by some of the Blues All Blacks, what strikes me the most was the number of stupid errors. For instance, why call a long throw for the 20 y.o. debutant hooker ?

    @African-Monkey

I first saw Josh Beehre playing for Whangarei Boys high at a 7s tournament at Dargaville back in October 2021 as an 18 year old
Up against mens club teams you could see his physicality and ability to get post metres ,was lean at the time but you knew with size he could be something special
You look at him now ,hes gonna be the mainstay of the Blues pack in the years to come possibly an All Black imo

Despite the loss last night i thought Beehre and Cam Christie were real positives and will be the first names selected in a Blues starting pack in the years to come
I also think Tristan Cook is super athlete i will come through given time , like Christie can play lock or 6
The other player who if there are any more injuries is Sam Hainsworth Fa’aofo , i rate this kid big time has a massive engine but will add something different in a 7 jersey

I'd like to see SHF and Terrell Peita into the 23

Is he available? He started the first preseason game but I don't think he's played since then. I assumed he was injured

You are right, but also team that throws have to put someone up, you can't just throw it to halfback. It still has to be a proper throw in.

The Blues team just now epitomises stupidly, as in regularly selecting the most unfavourable option. Two Ws left out there so far.
