So having moaned about Disney+ the other day, I've now got 3 months free. I
f I want to watch the Star Wars stuff that's not the mainstream movies, is there a particular order I should watch in?
Do you want to start with the good stuff or the bad?
If you want to start with the good then watch Mando S1 and Andor first, then Mando S2. Then wait for Andor S2 or watch the others in any order.
Actually, don't skip Book of Boba Fett though, it's interesting to see them completely ruin a show by making it another show and have that also signal the beginning of the decline of that other previously good show.
that probably sums it up pretty well
I really liked ahsoka (chopper might be my fav character in starwars) but know other didn't and might rely too much on things set up in the animated series
the acolyte...yeah....has lots of problems....but also has some of (one of?) the best lightsaber fights in all of star wars IMO and a bad guy they completely wasted
and skeleton crew is Goonies in space.....
Ahsoka had its moments but not enough of them. Iām not exactly hanging out for the next season.
Donāt get me started on people surviving lightsaber wounds tooā¦..
-
@MN5 as i say, i feel i saw more good bit beacuse they had been set up in rebels and clone wars, did someone survive a lightsabre wound in ahsoka? i also really liked the Baylan Skoll charater and want to know wtf he's up too
we forgot about obi wan.....

Yes. Ridiculous.
-
@MN5 oh, yeah, forgot about that, if im honest i suspend so much belief for these shows i let a lot of that flow over me, maul got cut in half...and went on to be one of the star wars best characters, at least the wound was to the side, i think the one in obi wan was right through their spine

I didn't mind Acolyte and Ahsoka, watchable but not outstanding. As long as they keep above the standard of the last movie/prequels then I'm easily pleased while noting I will happily grumpy old man about Filoni's influence on the franchise.

( Iāll throw in spoilers in case anyone hasnāt seen it )
ANOTHER fucken chick surviving being impaled by a lightsaber !!!!!I think the movie edit created by a fan is better than the actual show itself. Can't find it now but I assume someone posted it in this thread and that's how I found it.
@Kiwiwomble Yep, precedent was set a number of years ago with Maul, so no point complaining about surviving light saber wounds now.

Maul was a different species and used the dark side rage to keep him alive.
Makes Qui Gonns death all the more insulting.
-
@MN5 you just have to choose what to believe, if you're willing to accept dark side rage and being another species kept maul alive then you could just accept qui gon got stabbed right through the spine and dies instantly where as sabine got stabbed to the side, might have lost a kidney and survived long enough to get treatment
they should stick to people losing limbs though, would be enough to win a fight and not set people off

No need to bite your tongue, I'm not policing you (and your wrongness).
I absolutely hate the prequels (I consider the last sequel one of the prequels in tone/style/quality too), took me until Covid to do a rewatch of them. They were worse than I remembered. I would happily watch The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi if I was on the couch and they were on, if the prequels come on I'd rather sit in silence contemplating everything that is wrong with the world.
Hmm, for me it will be Brilliant, Good, Average, Bad.
Brilliant: SW, ESB, Rogue 1, Andor, Mando 1&2
Good: TFA, TLJ, ROTJ
Average: Mando 3, Boba, Obi Wan, Ahsoka, Acolyte
Bad: Prequels (including 9)I haven't seen Skeleton Crew or enough of the animated stuff to rate them.

I think we all agree 4-6 are the absolute best.
But the sequels are so shit compared to the prequels.
The way they shoehorned Palpatine in as the main villain was such bad writing ( even by SW standards )
āSomehow Palatine survivedā righto.
Awful, AWFUL characters. Rose, Holdo, the locksmithā¦.
Pretty rubbish characters. Finn, Po, Hux.
ā¦..and donāt get me started on what they did with Luke.
I did like Rey and Kylo Renn, I enjoyed their dynamic.
The prequels certainly had their faults too but they are masterpieces compared to 7-9.

Agreed.
But I guess the Empire and the Rebellion will always get some kind of mention in passing.

Which is fine, because they should always be the backdrop. But we don't need to focus on Luke, Leia, the Emperor etc. They can always shoehorn cameos for R2 and 3 PO because they always seem to get around
-
TLJ is the worst of them all for me as a complete movie, sure some cool shots/scenes but the whole locksmith side quest...that was unnecessary...bombers in space....fuel running low?....the idea of sneaking a fleet of small ships off....in clear site of the bad guys...what they did to carrie fisher....she had died...give her a heros send off and make her force push all the other people that had been sucked off into space to safety rather than flying herself...what they did to lukes character...and just the idea of they went from the "new republic" to 6 ships and half a dozen leaders....yeah they destroyed half a dozen planets in the force awakens.....but the new republic cant have all been on those planets....no star destroyer type ships had been made in the 30 years since TrotJ?
I think the one thing they really stuffed up in TFA was rey immediately finding luke...the second movie should have been a treasure hunt across the galaxy to find him...and bring him back in the last one to face off with Ben and Snoke
-

agreed, there is so much wider universe stuff they could explore spread over thousands of years...just go far enough back or forward so continuity isn't a problem and kick on

I like it, can kind of see why people don't though. I honestly think there's a small number of edits that can be made to it and people who don't like it would probably like it (removing the force projection, Mary Poppins, etc).
