Saints, Jets and Bears all fired their HC in season, so they're all vacant too. Bears might be the most appealing of the lot. Jets roster is actually pretty decent apart from the lack of a QB but the ownership is beyond rancid which drags them down.

Of the post season firings I'd agree that the jags are probably the most appealing.

Yeah one of the challenges for the Bears is the tough division with 3 other strong teams (in comparison to the Jags and the AFC South).

In addition whilst more expensive Lawrence is mucu more of a known quality at QB than Caleb Williams who the jury is very much still out on.

49ers are searching for a new defensive coordinator (perhaps Saleh will return if he doesn't get another head coaching gig).

Vikings-Rams game still planned for SoFi Stadium on Monday; contingency plan in place to move to State Farm Stadium

Move may happen due to the LA fires.

It used to be Lamar Jackson who copped criticism for his playoff performance.

Now it should be Justin Herbert.

A much improved season for the Chargers but Herbert gets touted as an elite quarterback with no playoff performances to justify the hype.

Meanwhile Lamar Jackson destroying the Steelers.

Steelers are the ultimate treadmill team - never bad enough to draft high - never good enough to legitimately challenge in the playoffs.

@KiwiMurph Herbert and Tomlin got smoked. Again.

I saw my first blocked goal for a touchdown! Crazy stuff

    Herbert overthrew too often
Too hard, too far, not good.

Lamar by comparison though has it easy as a QB. Henry has made them.very fucking hard to defend. Lamar can dish, take the run when everyone goes to Henry. He barely has to throw.

Lamar is surrounded by better players than Herbert and you can't ignore that.

First game was messy, but Stroud kept finding the play at the right time in a way Herbert wasn't able to

2nd game the steelers were just outmatched.

Part of that is Lamar himself as a runner though. Being an amazing runner is part of his skillset as a QB.

Yep. But he threw very well - he's picking his run and his pass and his handoff so much better. He's undefendable at times.

He is awesome to watch. And I have man-love for Henry (I have his jersey). What a Meast.

well, glad i got up early to watch that...

Denver are just not good enough to live with Buffalo. We were too conservative as well, and our run game isn't really good enough for that. The first drive was awesome, and then we barely had the ball after that.

The AFC is fucked. To even make the Superbowl you've got to beat at least a couple of Mahomes, Allen, Jackson, probably Joe Burrow as well. And it's not like the guys just below them in Herbert and Stroud are shit either.

Steelers fans have had enough of Mike Tomlin and the treadmill.

Lots of damning calls like "we've become the Cowboys, all legacy no relevance"

    Ouch

Going into Buffalo was always going to be tough. Broncos put up a fight but didn't have the firepower.

Plenty to build on into next year though. Tough division, tough conference but there's a good young QB, good coach, good skill players, strong defence... the foundations are there.

oh, just making the post season was huge considering the preseason predictions.

We're sorted at QB it looks like, which is half the battle. Desperately need upgrades at RB and WR. And as always, we need a defensive stud to come from somewhere.

But this was a great season for Denver.

Yeah that's going to be awesome. Chiefs will be pretty happy to face Houston I'd think.

that was a poor game. Green Bay are a bit shit and the Eagles weren't good enough to properly put them away.
A bad play call on 3rd down, and then a bad throw/catch on 4th and that was game.

    McCarthy out as Cowboys coach

    Cowboys join the coaching search.

There's a lot of complicated rules about when and how you can interview candidates during the playoffs - however Cowboys have essentially wasted an important week where they could have been virtually interviewing playoff assistant coaches.

Mike McCarthy linked to the vacancies in Chicago and New Orleans.

Don't follow NFL too much but in regards to the coach's being axed do they genuinely bring in new talent or is it more of a coaching merry-go-around where all the established coach's just swap franchises with each other?

They do bring in a lot of new talent. Offensive and Defensive Co-ordinators generally get about 50% of the jobs, while established guys get the other 50%. Teams are wary of getting guys with too much history and baggage - it's not like the NRL where guys can bounce to their 3rd or 4th team without much concern. Rare to see a head coach find a 3rd home. McCarthy will be one of the very few, I can't see Doug Peterson getting another gig.
