So ODI squad changes. Foulkes, Jacobs and Robinson out. Latham, Young and O'Rourke in for the ODIs I think.

Straight swap O'Rourke for Foulkes and Latham for Robinson. I suppose Latham will take the gloves, Young will fit in for Hay, or maybe they keep Hay and drop Chapman? Bracewell missing out for Smith quite likely too .

Should be able to put together a decent team out of the bits available.

Weather is rubbish in Wellington, so will be interesting to see if we get a game tomorrow. I'd go for this team if it does go ahead. 1. Ravindra 2. Young 3. Chapman 4. Latham/Mitchell 5. Latham/Mitchell 6. Bracewell 7. Santner 8. Smith 9. Henry 10. Duffy 11. O'Rourke. Latham always bats in the middle order. The other option is to play him or Mitchell at three, bring in Phillips at five. I'd take Mike Bracewell initially ahead of GP, he has a better one day record with both bat and ball. Batting line up could be a bit weak should a few wickets fall early.

@SouthernMann Wondered if they might keep Hay, in which case Latham could open if not keeping. Get Young in at 3 and drop Chapman. Maybe get Ravindra down the order one and open with Young and Latham. Anyway, they can have them as the top 3 if they use Hay which looks a bit better at the top to me (even if a bit weaker further down, but the runs "should" come further up in principle).

You're probably right re GP / Bracewell but GP does seem to be the "finisher" in the side so they might stick with him.

Bummer about the weather and tomorrow looks worse.

Mitch Hay is still with the squad. I'd just be surprised if they take Latham away from the role he has had with the team for the majority of his career. Hay is still a bit inexperienced in one day cricket. Still only averages 20ish for Canterbury. As for Bracewell v Phillips. The two best finishing one day innings from NZ players in one day cricket over the last few years have come from Bracewell. His 127 v Ireland saved our arse from a first ever loss against them. While his 140 v India had us within 12 runs of chasing 350. Some interesting options for the selection group.

Phillips form has fallen away alarmingly. I hope he finds some and soon.

Yeah I know Hay is still with the squad which is why I said so 😉. Didn't realise that he hadn't done much domestically in one day stuff but thought that it might be an opportunity to give a guy a chance, and some experience. You are correct of course, we don't do that...🙄

I like both Bracewell and Phillips, given their role, so don't have a real preference, but as has been said GP is out of form. Those two Bracewell innings were gems, and I still think of the one for Welly at Pukekura (a postage stamp, but 140 odd off about 65 was great viewing).

Beautiful spot but you wonder if they should have cricket there.

    I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a scoring shot that isn’t 1,4 or 6.

Going to be bloody cold at the Basin today. I haven't seen any rain at my place in the Hutt yet, but suspect it is coming. Might be a stop start game with rain delays. Somewhat regretting buying a ticket

From the looks of the forecast there should be enough time to get a full game in, although might be tight, in some ways an early rain break, to shorten the first innings would be ideal, since there will definitely be enough time for 50-60 overs, but maybe not 70 overs.

    Will be freezing!

Good old Wellington Summer. I have the hoodie and jeans on today.

I’m glad they’re playing at a proper cricket ground rather than in front of hoards of empty seats at the stadium

The sound is crap for the anthems. Reminds me of the old days at Lancaster Park with the parlophone type 'speakers'.

I'm heading in about halfway through the first innings. Going for a well layered approach. Had too many cold days at cricket games. Apparently it is a sell out, will be interesting to see how many will just say stuff it.

That’s pretty good for Sri Lanka !

Hopefully for the games sake it’s one of those shitty but not shitty enough to call off the cricket type days.

Sharp run out from Santner. SL are 23/3.

Ridiculous run out, never a run there

Great review from the BCs there. Original decision overturned and Asalanka is gone for a duck.

    23/4

We’re in the 10th over too, very slow scoring as well as wickets tumbling

As the commentators have just mentioned WOR hasn’t even bowled yet !

Why isn't O'Rourke bowling full here, instead of short of a length? Seems obvious to me he's just making it easy to get away, so am I being dim?

    SL all out for 178.

Should be pretty comfortable but with the Black Caps ya never know.

Assuming Young and Ravindra will be opening ?

    Solid start. 30/0.

I forgot Young had such a good ODI record. No wonder he’s had loads of chances at test level.
