Martin Love is a guy who played in the wrong era - or in the wrong country.

We would have killed for him, but he could barely get a game for Oz.

    I reckon he would now.

    Martin Love - Wikipedia

Yeah He would walk in to the current line up a great batsmen born in the wrong era.
Brad Hodge is another who couldn't break in his time,he would now.

    > Stuart Law, David Hussey, prime Chris Rogers (how he only got 1 test at 35 before getting a proper go is a crime in itself), Darren Lehmann only playing 20 odd tests.

I'm sure there's more I can't think of off the top of my head.

50 something not out in his only test then dropped when Steve Waugh came back if I remember rightly. Never played again.

Stuart Law great bloke he played for my club over here he arrived home from a tour from England at 8am on a Saturday, turned up to play for the club starting at 10am and smashed a great 150 I was lucky enough to be in that side that year as a young pup, awesome to watch he was a real club man.
He had a vicious cover drive did Lawry.

just a bit of seppo bullshit bought in by the West Indies

Nothing wrong with a hug, a kiss, a lick, a grope on the arse or a dry root.

    Meh, battle of the minnows.

We didn't give India a 5 test series because they couldn't compete.

Also this is their 2nd test loss in a row at home
Windies beat them back in Jan.

Wonder what their longest losing streak at home is...

    I’d completely forgotten about that.

We’re so tuned as “little brother” to think that Australia crushes all before them at home.

It was a great win too from memory, again they were outdone by a Pace bowler.

I think the talk of the demise of Australian cricket is way of the mark.
There is enough in SS to bring through and there is some outstanding young talent
coming through the U/19 and U/17 programs like
Sam Hogan rated very highly in QLd as a batsmen
Oliver Peake from victoria another batsmen
    Tom Campbell from Qld bstsmen
Addison Sherrif Nsw pace bowling allrounder
    Simon Budge from WA batsmen

What happened to Steve Waugh's son? A few years ago he was getting talked up a bit, but I haven't seen his name for a while now (I don't follow SS too closely though)

Interesting how we can rattle off the names of 10 or so Australian batsmen from the 90s and 2000s that were born in the wrong era.

But no one laments the depth of the bowlers from that era. No one thinks Scott Muller, Adam Dale, Brad Williams, Mark Nicholson etc were unlucky not to have long test careers. But surely they're different sides of the same coin.

However. Those batsmen all dominated county cricket though, and succeeded when elevated to test or ODI cricket. So, there is something in it.

Will the same sort of conversations be happening in 20 years about Scott Boland, Jhyre Richardson, Michael Neser etc. Yet, forgetting that the young Aussie Sheffield Shield batsman hold the bat at the wrong end and put their box over their anuses while trying to launch re-inforced kookuburras into an IPL scout's wife's lap while batting on a greentop.

I wondered where he'd gone to. U19 World Cup a few years was a bit surreal - free entry at Bay Oval to find Steve Waugh sitting on the bank.

Starc gets Jaiswal first ball of the second test

No wonder Aus love playing these day night tests - it's basically a guaranteed win every year

I'll bet we end up batting when the ball moves the most in the evening session and it backfires horrifically on us.

We should always play the first test at the Gabba before trying Adelaide. We fucked around with this last time against India and it fucked us

In memoriam of Phil Hughes apparently.

I originally thought it was because Australian cricket was murdered in the first test.
