Haha that's great. What a weirdo.

In cricket as in all things, we will tolerate weirdness if you are successful. But if that turns then not having the 'good bloke' factor on your side can hasten your demise.

Also doing dumb things like reviewing when he's plumb last night don't help your cause.

Head was an important wicket in innings 1

He was looking good and has a history of carving up India (white ball cricket etc).

He might have pushed Aus close to India's total if he hadn't gotten a beauty from Rana

We're a long way from where we were with the Shield where you had guys like Brad Hodge, Michael Bevan, Stuart Law averaging 50, 60-odd and not getting a gig.

Didn't Boof Lehmann have something like 10,000 FC runs before getting a test gig?

I’m hoping India roll the next 4 wickets tonight and then I’m sure we will hear the standard 4 day tests debate that gets aired every year when the Aussies beat would be touring sides in 4 days

4 day tests in Aus usually don't end in Australia being humiliated. Well done India.

Hard disagree. I think he was actually underrated.

In Australia he was a punchline who was never truly appreciated. An opener who could generally get past the new ball and average 40 odd? We yearn for that.

Now all he’s remembered for is reviewing the odd plumb LB. Not his supreme eye and ability to shore up our batting lineup in a relatively unstable period.

And then you have his bowling ability, which again was underrated. Despite injury limitations he was the perfect fifth option who could tie down an end while the quicks had a rest.

And then in the shorter forms he was a master.

I’m not saying he’s an all time great but in Australia I don’t think he has the respect he deserves.

To be fair, you're probably right. But he came across as a bit of knob, and the DRS efforts were meme-worthy. But he was a hell of a cricketer.
