Was going for a C- or D+ for the year, depending on last team & the way they played versus Italy. But no growth for new players and another shit performance y razor's a team, mean D for this year, with little sign of improvement beyond injuries.

Yeah a pass mark for me but not much more than that. I won't hold my breath, but it would be nice to see a few more players moved on.

Very glad Lakai is at 7. Love the extra speed. Aumua going well.
Outside of Roigard and DMac the backline isn't good. -
People rip out Jeff Wilson, but he's the only one who thinks about criticising this mob.
Angus Ta'avao and Steven Bates can fuck off.

You could tell Goldie was biting his tongue a lot whilst having to listen to Bates and Ta'avao's waffle. Don't get the hate for Wilson myself, think he's not bad.
Ta'avao's image on camera is simlar to his career on the field. The pretty boy prop.

Except for him.

Given the loss of Whitelock, Retallick, Smith and Mo'unga I thought the year was ok. We had some ugly wins that showed a lot of heart but also some games we should have nailed and won.
We need to flush the current attack plan down the dunny. It's clunky and awkward.
Razor needs to dispense with his Crusader favouritism.

Ta'avao is BFFs with half the squad and Bates was part of the Auckland NPC coaching staff this year who had a woeful season.

6/10 for the year from me. I expected (hoped) for better, but it’s clear now that success will be hard fought and won. Only real standout disappointment was the Argentina loss - that was a very poor outcome. Aside from today, I’ve been encouraged by the progress. I’m hoping it’s like when Lauri Mains took over, and there is a bit of rough stuff before we see the gold. The new players that have shined give me a lot of encouragement, but definitely need to see some fruit next year fo shizz.

Ta'avao would suit a show like the Crowd Goes Wild or commentate with the ACC team, something like that, because he shouldn't be analysing a rugby test that's for sure.
Bates, yeah well, Auckland's had some shockers as their head coaches, and he's up there with the worst.

Laurie Mains had the balls to make tough selections though, Razor hasn't shown that he does yet.

It was 3 years of dross with Laurie Mains before he finally got over his anti Auckland bias and also got the boon of Lomu.
I hope Razor can evolve his attitude faster than Mains did.

Yeah I think New Zealand Rugby needs a Buck Shelford moment.
Or at the very least a Whetton brother moment…..( were they both dropped at the same time ? I can’t remember )

It was that generational shift though. We held on too long with the Hansen era (fuck, still don’t understand how we lost that Lions series, after game 1), so now we need to reshape this team. Looks to me like Razor’s caught between wanting to win (KPI no 1) and blooding new players. Has he wasted his honeymoon period?

He's pissed away all of his capital on poor selections and perceived provincial bias, along with a gameplan that is far from the finished article

Laurie Mains before he finally got over his anti Auckland bias
His long term captain was an Aucklander even when his bestie returned from injury.
His undroppable player (R Brooke) was an Aucklander.
He let his captain convince him to select an unwanted Zinny from Auckland and he went on to be a great.
More than half of the AB starting XV in the final match of 1992 were Aucklanders.
I don't think his bias was as big as you're making out it to be.

He did take too long to settle into his best team. And for all that, just like Foster, he could have plumped his legacy with a RWC win only to be thwarted by SA
