Great to see Lakai in the mix. If they settle with him to start we will need him to play tighter than what he might normally do. France love the stuff around the fringes and that’s where Cane thrives and gets a lot of work done.

What Lakai will offer though is once he gets the ball in attack he will not be surprised!

Not hearing too much this week but will post what I have heard, none of it is really ground breaking stuff.

Told to expect not too much change other than Beaudy in for Perofeta(sounds like he will be on the bench) and Reece for Telea. As Canes posted above, Lakai training with the idea he’s starting 7.

All pretty obvious stuff I know but thought I’d share and will try find out more as per.

That ‘calf’ must be really challenging EdG….

Taylor will be in 23, but where?

Last week I was told he has to earn his spot back with how well Williams and Ofa have been going which is only fair. Can’t be far from at least getting the spot back off Ofa you would think?

Williams has started 3 tests in a row, so if de Groot comes back I think he replaces him as the starter.

@Billy-Tell isn't Gros out also, concussion.

No idea tbh. The possible team I posted is what a French mate suggested they will pick. We see.

I also think de Groot is seen purely as a starting player.

That's interesting because he came off the bench this year already and I thought it was one of his better games.

I'd be surprised if gets in for France but he should get an opportunity against Italy

Yes - Cros and Penaud both out - parallels with Cane and Tele'a.

I’m interested to see if B.Barrett does a straight swap with Perofeta and is on the bench or if he is put back in at 10. Hell a decision after a game like Dmacs last weekend. Glad I’m not a coach for that one.

Me personally, I’d go with Dmac after a game like that. If it’s a close game BB could be vital towards the end coming on for the last 20/25mins.

He has started 22 of his 28 tests.

3 of those came in his first four games, one was on his re-admission against the Boks, one was against Namibia, and the other was against Fiji earlier this year.

They like him starting, and I think with the French pack that much bigger, he'll come in for Ofa, with Williams dropping back to the bench.

    French team's been named.

No Penaud, who is still sick. Ramos at 10. Buros, the Bordeaux fullback, at the back. Tatafu starting at tighthead, with only his second cap.

Pretty much the team predicted earlier in the week.

There's a 6/2 split on the bench, but there's pretty good cover. Something happens to Ramos, Dupont probably shifts one out with Le Garrec coming in. If Buros gets injured, Bielle-Biarrey goes to fullback and Gailleton comes onto the wing.

Gailleton can genuinely cover both wings and both midfield positions, so he's a handy player to have in that 23 jersey.

The biggest risk is probably at 10. Dupont can play there to a reasonable enough level, but he's a lot better at 9.

The ABs bench is quickly becoming a weapon. My only hope is that McKenzie and Barrett are a straight swap. No 10 should have to deal with Barrett at fullback. It doesn’t work
