The Substance (2024)
Combination of gothic horror, David Lynch weirdness and Kubrick visuals.
Bloody great - really original, well written and with a great performance by Demi Moore. Very high on the tit-watch scale as well.
4 Branagh's Frankenstein's out of 5 David Lynch Eraserhead's
Cronenburg did it better decades ago

Cronenberg's one of my favourite directors, but I thought it had a lot more to say in general than his films

TripwireThat is a fucking amazing trailer. Nobody can complain "I feel like I've already seen the entire movie".
Well - wait - no - they can... but not because it gave anything away about the plot.
Unfortunately my local cinema states "Seeders: 0" - but it's on my list. -

Rebel Moon
I know the original releases were panned but I quite enjoyed them. So I watched the R18 Director's Cuts of both movies. Over 6 h in total. We get to see more backstories of some of the characters and there is plenty of graphic violence. And plenty of Sofia Boutella as well.
are they on netflix? i had similar thoughts, there are plenty of films that are fun...but not good
-
@Kiwiwomble Yes

Dollman
I had a weird feeling I'd seen that before - until about 1/3 of the way in. Now I'm intrigued by both Dollman, and whatever it is I've seen before that reminded me of it.
My local cinema shows Dollman as having Seeders >0 - but "Downloading metadata" for now - about the same status as my chances of watching Ebola Rex. Fuck, I want to watch Ebola Rex, so bad.
On the upside - my options at the local cinema include a version of Dollman which is "REMASTERED.BRRip" - so... that's gotta be a good sign. -

They're Netflix productions, so they should be there.
Not sure why I'm directing people to those shit stains masquerading as movies - I must secretly dislike @Kiwiwomble

He's pretty unlikeable. Constantly inoffensive. Fuck him.

You might actually be right. That looks VERY familiar. And checking my local cinema - there's fucking SIX in the Trancers series? It's a mofo-ing franchise.
And I have a vague memory I might have discovered and exclaimed that before as well. -
Clerks III
I've watched all the Clerks movies over the last week or so - while stoned, to get "that" view of them
Original - amusing
2 - I'm vaguely remembering as being problematic
3 - not great. Lots of self-referencing self-back-clapping nonsense.- and realised - I've never seen this before. Maybe watching Kevin Smith's schtick for the first time while stoned... doesn't quite work? Anyway...
Tit-watch: minimal. Rosario Dawson's return in III - kept my otherwise dwindling interest piqued.

Donât you dare knock the original Clerks. Absolute classic in the âcan only watch bakedâ category
Up there with Mystery Science Theatre 3000

You need to also watch 2024's The 4:30 Movie - a spiritual prequel by Kevin Smith set in the 1980's

Watched half of Bullet Train.
Great fun over the top bullshit, Brad at his best ( does he ever put a foot wrong ? ) and loads of other quirky psychos.
I do like that genre of movie, but unfortunately had to postpone the rest of it as I was busy catching flies on the couch after a big day.
Great recommendation from my sons.
Iâm sure if will get a good review when I finish watching tonight !
