Great interview with McKenzie. Classy bloke and I fear him cutting us open tomorrow. Hopefully the he will be put under lots of pressure to force errors.
Thanks for posting that. Great interview. I really like the intelligent way he quickly responds, and the way he sees the game and it's challenges is the way I like to see it.
Would like to see a photo of the interviewer because, based on his voice alone, I am convinced he is a leprechaun.

@nostrildamus the leprechaun asked some great questions it must be said, not the usual tripe you'd normally hear at these pressers.
-
@kiwiinmelb yeah, that's exactly what I meant. His quick passing creating lines and space, totally different input to the game compared to Beauden.

He was very good indeed, better than most sports interviewers in this part of the world at any rate! And I was a bit too cheeky, loved his accent. (Well, accent for me, anyway).

is this him? https://www.oldwesley.ie/the-occasional-lunch/
Ok doesn't look like a leprechaun. Does look like he enjoys a drink and an anecdote though so all is perhaps not lost. -

Worth noting that it's not a press conference, it's a one-on-one interview, so much easier for him that for a journo fighting it out with a throng of others to get a line of questioning in.

@Machpants I think 18 from Ireland who played in that QF, but only 10 from NZ (Tele'a was left out for protocol breach).
Actually, 17 and 9 because neither Crowley nor DMac got off the bench.
-
without retirements and injuries what do you reckon those numbers are?
-
@nostrildamus yes that's him. He does look a bit leprechaunish in fairness!

Never go into an AB game with no belief bit I suspect its going to require our best performance under the Razor era thus far

Ireland or France.

Watching highlights of that quarter final again and New Zealand players scored some great tries. Lester, Bundee, Ardie, Jameson, Will.
We know what Ireland will bring but on paper their bench seems lacking impact imo. Healy was world class back in the day. He’s now 37 and there because no one else has really stepped up.

In what could be a complete turnaround for this AB side, if we are close on the scoreboard at 60 minutes, the bench could win this one for us!

Both will require our best but only thinking about Ireland atm

@DaGrubster There's definitely potential to develop a good bench for "impact". Tu'ungafasi, Tosi, and Tuipulotu are all good options, and next year bench hooker should be between Taukei’aho and Aumua. Add in a ball carrying loose forward, a running halfback, and a kicking game from a 10 or 15, and that's pretty solid.

Chatting with Irish at work they were happy to see Williams still playing after the England game.
Hopefully he can bounce back to make them eat their words.
The ABs seem to think he had some tough calls against him - but we shall see. And I hope he watches his elbow!

Tbh it’s been a very very long time (probably since the Wallabies of 2010-2011) where I’ve had such an overwhelming desire to see the ABs take the opposition players heads off
