Kane Douglas has all the hallmarks of a battered woman. He willingly stayed in a close physical relationship with Franks for the next 73 minutes and wore sunglasses at the after match to hide the wounds.

That's just enabling Franks' monstrous behaviour.
-

Who is? Perhaps Taminavalue or Tongueafarsi

-

The Franks incident was poor on his behalf. However, the NH media frothing can be attributed to a perfect stroke of timing PR-wise. The NH game is in the offseason right now (I think) but the focus is on the Lions coach announcement early next month.

Gallagher, Stephen Jones etc. have known who the coach will be (Gatland cough) for four years and they've already written their respective articles so long ago that they have ample time to get to the nudie bar for a few pints before article deadline. The only work required is a final paragraph to devote to slurring the Lions' opponents and especially which AB committed the most recent unpunished atrocity.
-

I've briefly (and I stress briefly) looked at a still of the smoking gun grassy knoll reverse angle revealed today and it looks like most if not all of Franks' fingers are squeezing Douglas' temples, not digging into his baby blues.

Or am I blind? I do wank a lot.
-

Auckland Herald journos can hit "Snooze 3 years" on their email reminder pop-up to write an article about Barrett on the verge of being signed by the Blues.

I hate to pull out useless statistics, but this is a new low for the 'sloe (in modern times).

The Aussies scored one try and 17 points in 160 minutes of rugby the last two Saturdays. The last time the Aussies scored fewer than 17 points against the ABs over consecutive weekends was August 1964 - losing 14-9 and 18-3 at Carisbrook and Lancaster Park. They scored a try in each game.

In consecutive games (the first in 1972 and the other in 1974) we beat them 38-3 and 11-6 in Sydney and Auckland respectively with the Aussies scoring one try over the pair of games.

In one of those games in each pair, the Aussies were at least in with a chance of winning / drawing as time expired i.e. they lost by two five point margins.

Data according to the pick and go website. I'm happy for this to be peer reviewed before you fax it to Phil Kearns.

Sorry, the huge thrashing in 1972 was in Auckland at the end of the awful Aussies tour. But you knew that.
-

If the clubs are that concerned about the tour and the injury / short offseason, why don't they just give the Lions players August and September off? There are how many clubs who will supply players to the tour - 12 or 15? Even if you're taking 46 players (I'm not sure what the squad size is going to be but it needs to be huge) then that's only 3-4 players per supplying club. Perhaps Saracens or other top English clubs will be disproportionately badly hit.

The Lions tour is the biggest rugby event outside the RWC, and who cares if it disrupts the start of a club season once every four years (yes, I know RWC also disrupts the start of the club season once every four years).
-

Back off the rugby and onto UB40, I'm not surprised that a band member fell on hard times when there were about ten other members to share the profits with. Mind you, one tenth of fuck all is the same as a quarter of fuck all.

Didn't they just cover other people's hits? Elvis, Neil Diamond etc.
-

Stoked for ALB, it was really impressive the way he stepped in for Ngatai and filled that hole. The man has a huge future (pity about his old man-like music tastes though, UB40? Really?).

Not sure about the Dagg/Smith swap. Dagg was alright on the wing back in the day but I dunno how he'd go now. I guess we'll see though.

Out of all bands whose name is acronymised and start with "U" and have one or more numbers in its name - let's say, "2" for example - UB40 is the second worst band ever.
-

Yeah, in the first test in 2013 they were a shitty Brisbane deck away from winning. Kurtley (?) looked like he was kicking that final goal in a Louisiana bayou.

There is little point making wholesale changes. This team isn't great, but has performed far better in the past. Guys like Douglas and Genia hadn't played since last year or early this year. Throwing them around club rugby (or Subbies) for a couple of weeks probably would have been a better option than running a Wallaby camp. Game time is important.

In any case, the change isn't going to be coming any time soon. Not while our grassroots is so completely fucked up, particularly in NSW where the hierarchy can't decide which direction to go, and don't have the political power to implement anything anyway.

Too many chiefs in Australian Rugby, not enough Indians.

Yep, playing some footy...any footy...would have been a better strategy. Even if it the team having a hitout was against the Tallebudgera Over 35s. Did they play a "practice" game or anything like that? Presume the NRC teams would be assembled and ready to give the team a run.

Weeks and weeks in camp seem to be counterproductive. They got three weeks in camp before the Lions in 2013 (while the Lions played their warm-up games against SR teams sans Wallabies) and that ended badly.
-

Was working all day yesterday and studiously managed to avoid everything about the game. `sat down at 11 last night to watch the recording I had set but despite the recording showing I was watching the TRC it was of some fucken tennis instead.
Close your eyes and just imagine it was any of the following recent games between the teams:

Auckland, 2015

Auckland, 2014

Sydney, 2013

Auckland, 2011 (both times).

Then simply change a few ABs around and add in some extra shitness from Straya. Bingo.

It's pretty much the same shit.
-

Well done Aussie. Clearly the better team. Great ball movement, whereas we tended to take the contact too much.

This sounds fucking ridiculous and 20:20 hindsighty, but we'd have been better off at 5-10 and 6 vs 7 and on attack to have kicked the ball into touch, got Woodman back, and then game on with Aussie having a defensive lineout.

Instead, turnover, try and skull fucked. Woodman spent about 4 minutes of game time in the bin.
