    Bodybuilding.....

Update. Hired a mate who is an online coach who I like his training philosophy. He's an ex international footy player and his wife's an ex international in another sport but has done the training under all the guys I like, knees over toes, Kelly starett etc.

Got dexa today i decided to reset the goal as it would be even more unhealthy than bodybuilding already is to try and get to single figure body fat % by the start of August. Would probably need to lose 1-1.2kg a week and hope that 70% is far loss. Otherwise I would be in average stage shape.

Reset the goal to under 100kg (115 ATM) this year, improve my movement patterns/touch my toes/improve aches and pains and body recomp. With the aim to benefit my basketball and life in general. Will allow for a slower cut and hopefully more muscle maintained.

I don't want to commit to a comp later in the year as have baby #2 in sept so consistently to train hard will go out the window with sleep deprivation.

    Watch this space round 2.

What better time to kick start this back up....new year's!

I have started a list last year of things that would push me out of my comfort zone that I want to tick off.

Last year my goal was to run 10k in under 50mins. Usually wouldn't be a problem but after third ankle fracture I was struggling to not limp running 1-3km in early 2023. Ended up running under 50mins mid year while doing a half marathon. My 'bucket list' of hard challenges included a marathon, misses said I may as well keep training for Queenstown marathon. Of course I then got niggly injuries and daycare sicknesses my daughter brought home. Struggled to get enough KMs in training with both hot Brisbane weather and getting massive change in job (COO got fired and boss went overseas so I got made CEO at a weeks notice...and 6 weeks before the race).

Anyway managed to get through the marathon was half proud half disappointed 2 hours first half 2:40 for the easier section due to being under prepared and just cramp/walk/jogging the last 7 km. Ticked off anyway. Probably won't do another, although with proper prep and better diet could do sub four on a flatter track.

Put the rest of my challenging tasks into a randomiser website. It shot out bodybuilder comp and that is what I will aim to do this year.

Watch this space. Will weigh in and get a dexa soon for proper stats. Imagine I'm about 190cm and 110-115kg depending on how much Xmas pudding is still present.

Got a second kid coming in sept so aiming for August. Will have to start now to ensure I'm not an embarrassment on stage.

Kept up upper body lifting as much as I could during the running training. Did some lower body up until the KMs got to long. So not completely deconditioned for lifting but we'll off my strongest.

Biggest delay in an update. Went to my first NBA game at the start of last month while in Chicago. Was pretty excited even though it was against the Jazz. The Bulls got a win as well. Because it was against the jazz we got pretty awesome seats for $100USD. Growing up as a kid I had bulls Duvet, Hat, starter jacket, MJ collection cards etc.
Was a cool experience but was gutted a couple of days later I didn't/couldn't go to Bulls vs Suns which KD and Beal played in and went to OT. I got pretty sick once the conference I was there was over so missed going to that game and the NFL game the following night which the Bears won as well.

Amazing what they can get to mid-week sports games in the USA. It was funny years ago I lived in Canada and they would be so excited to watch Super rugby games/6 nations games and in 2011 seeing AB's live. Of course I get excited about the AB's but we take it for granted. I was that type of excited for a live NBA game.

Anyways Bulls are about to blow up now but are winning. I had a huge collection of Coby White Rookie cards couple of years back. Sold during the Mania but imagine his value has returned with his recent form.

@canefan not sure if this occurred in OKC (maybe?) I read it was in the offseason in Cali.

That could be worse though. Age of consent in California is 18 I believe.

    Seriously???

Man that's beyond stupid - imagine telling your 17yr old daughter that she isn't old enough to make decisions about her own body, fuck me dead

And considering he's only 21 the gap is narrower. Lots of girls around 16 and 17 could pass as over 18. A bloody minefield

Read today it is California and the police are investigating... sounds like he is already losing sponsorship deals.

This is just one more reason why social media is fucking poison.

Yup and TMZ reporting no cooperation so far from anyone in the alleged family.

Hopefully if the girl was of a reasonable age relative to him, and was consenting and/or the one chasing him, then the family said no harm no foul.

Still not in defending him mode yet with so many unknowns but twitter comparing him to karl.malone is a stretch.

If the girl / family aren't interested, he should be fine.

It will be interesting to see the sponsor reaction though.

Yeah although it would suck to lose the sponsors im sure if he stays in the league for two more contracts he is gonna be fine.

I mean Kobe still had sponsors.

Not sure how many of you have followed the Mikey Williams (high schooler who had 100mil puma contract). Got off gun charges today. Wonder if it will knock some sense into him.

Yeah hopefully this all blows over for Josh Kiddey.

Again it's only been reported she was young based on Twitter. Latest photos released are with her in a night club with him. It was also when he was 19 I believe. Not ok-ing any of this just relaying what I have read.

India winning cricket matches at home is like going home with your ex at the end of a night out. Not a lock in at the start of the night but not a surprising end to it.

So final results are in. Was third in the race but after those that submitted times early I was pushed to 5th. One was by .2 of a second which is annoying as you can see the +/- distance of the people you are racing, the guy behind me was 22m behind in the home stretch so just had to maintain. If I was tied neck and neck would have probably changed the last 10 second push. Oh well would have still missed out on top three as the third place was well ahead.

Day 3 of knees over toes today. Had already done some of his stuff intermittently in the past so not a big shock and all Body weight stuff in this first program. Going away to Chicago this weekend so will do it while I'm away. So far so good. Had stopped weights the last 4 weeks leading into this and had decreased the previous 4 prior so easing into it is good. Also no heavy deadlifts or squats means I am not currently dreading moving.

    Hmm good question:

    • Club team back home Napier Tech have won this year and 1-2 other times of late. Massive turnaround after being hopeless for years.
    • Magpies: Won the shield lots, lots of 2nd div finals as well.
    • ABs already mentioned
    • Warriors....sigh
    • Super Rugby I am basically any team in NZ wins is good, then if they are playing each other my priority is chiefs then highlanders. Both had wins in the last decade. Previously it was more when I had mates playing in those teams I would want them to do well.
    • I am a transient Brisbane Lions fan but they haven't won since I moved over here.
    • NBA I am much more of a player follower then team. Joker and Giannis and Adams usually get my support and 2/3 of them have won recently.
    • QLD for State of Origin....not sure if that really counts as its only two teams so laws of averages is you are only a few years away from winning again...unless you are NSW for like 9 years.
    • Black Caps - Mentioned here
-Brisbane Heat - Think we won the first season of BBL then nothing since.

Central Districts: Pretty sure we won cricket max..

    Personally:

    • Won a couple of titles in Canada with my club team (first time they won the provincial and interprovincial titles)
    • My basketball team has lost in the finals the last 3 seasons (I was stuck in NZ with Covid for one of them).

So competed over the weekend. Looks like autocorrect got my previous message. Windsor rowing nationals actually means indoor rowing nationals.

Was a interesting format. You could either race on the day or submit your time 2 days early as there was actual rowing comps on that weekend.

Was about 75-80% compliant on my training but bit interrupted a couple weeks out as household was sick.

There were 13 people registered in my age group 30-39. About 75% raced on the day so assume some submitted early. I came third in the live race with a time of 6.28. I know one gun who wasn't racing live so assume I will come off the podium. Also the guy in second was from/inthe USA which was weird.

The winner of my race got 6.06 which is bloody quick for an amateur rower. From what I've read 6.20 and below (plus being able to row on water) will get interest from colleges in the USA.

It's a bloody hard mental battle with both training and racing but I 'enjoyed' trying to harness my inner David Goggins. I can safely say I gave it 100% as afterwards as I finished I tried to get on a seat but couldn't hold myself up so rolled/crawled to the ground in recovery position for 20-30mins. Had the most intense lactic burn in both legs and arms for most of that time, couldn't really move my legs or support them and had to have my eyes closed.

Finally got up walked over and leaned on a wall then spewed. Still felt shit for a couple hours then just exhausted the rest of the day and the next.

Official results come out Wednesday. Except to be a bit disappointed when I get bumped from the top three but stoked with my time and the whole experience.

Likely hanging up my indoor rowing hat and going to give knees over toes guys programs a full crack for the next 6-9 months to work on balancing the imbalances and improving my mobility. Have a different physical challenge I want to take on each year but will do this first.

Looking at the full list, Savea is only 3 test tries away from equalling McCaw at 27 (the most for a forward).

So far and away the best AB try scoring brothers……

Barretts second obviously ( three of them helps )

    Who would be third ?

    Ioane brothers on 37

    Savea's on: 69

    Barretts on 70.

The Smith Brothers (Conrad/Ben/Aaron) with 103 in total

I’m really struggling to find a good list on the interweb.

    Isn’t 24 plus 46 = 70 ? ( Saveas )

Scott obviously adding a handful gets the Barretts up there.

Who is legitimately third ? ( I just found out the Smiths aren’t related, turns out its a common name )

I just added them up either from Wiki and/or AB's website but good chance they haven't updated.
