Kearns whinges again

I have always wondered if the four more years thing was directed more at Kelleher than anyone else ,

The two didnt get on , that was obvious to see, they had history of getting under each others skin ,

and Kelleher was directly in front of him when he said it ,

with no proof I have often suspected he would not have said it , if his good mate Marshall was still there playing halfback instead of Kelleher
-

Yep the guy who stood over Fitzy giving him the fingers after scoring a try is telling us we should be more gracious .

In other news Tiger Woods says he is disgusted at the owners of Ashley Madison for enabling marital infidelity. -

The All Blacks, en route to a 8-7 win over France in the final, reserved their finest performance for their great trans- Ta$man rivals in the semi-final.

Set up courtesy of Ireland’s shock victory over the world’s second best team in the pool stages, the clash between the World Cup favourites and hosts and the Investec Tri Nations champions was in many pundit’s eyes the real decider.

Despite many, especially in Australia, believing that the Wallabies would extend their then 2-0 World Cup record over the All Blacks (16-6 in 1991, 22-10 in 2003), Richie McCaw and his troops didn’t give their rivals an inch and taught them a lesson in controlled fury and determination to win 20-6.

The Wallabies victory in 2003, which saw them go on to push England hard in the final, ended with Gregan famously saying “four more years†to All Blacks scrumhalf Byron Kelleher at the end of the test.

Gregan, who was recently at the Gold Coast Sevens, was asked by the Sydney Morning Herald what happened when he was at Eden Park to watch his old team lose to the World Champions elect.

Did he get “four more years†given back to him?

“'I got plenty of it,†Gregan said.

“I got a song and everything, they spotted me and they were chanting it everywhere.â€

He said the comment was only directed at his old sparring partner Kelleher, and didn’t think it would be picked up by millions of kiwis who were watching in despair as the Wallabies sent them out of the tournament eight year’s ago.

“'It was a moment where it was myself and (Kelleher) and I was just directing the comment to Byron but the camera gets you in that moment and all of a sudden 4.5 million Kiwis thought it was directed at them,†he said.

With the All Blacks now World Champions, Gregan said it was time to let bygones be bygones.

“They've hung on to it, though,†he said.

“They've got long memories, it's time to move on.'

The "Four More Years" chant at the 2011 semi final that the whole stadium joined in on, was the most cathartic thing I've ever been a part of. Years of anger, embarrassment, disappointment and hurt rose to the surface as we screamed that at the Aussies.

-

I do agree with Gregan, "They've got long memories, it's time to move on."

I think that's why Kearns does/says this stuff, because he knows full well it will be brought up on some NZ rugby forum and the outrage-o-metre will go off. The fact MR brought up something that happened in the 90s is case in point
-
To be to fair to Gregan he is a halfback. He literally has to be a tosspot to be selected. All our halfbacks in the professional era are hateable too (except Ellis who you could only have sympathy for).

The four more years thing says more about Aussie than us I reckon. It was a bit of a shit sledge because they ended up losing the tournament too. Their unhealthy obsession with kamakazie efforts on NZ, rather than being consistently a great rugby team have only got worse since that semi final.

Under McQueen they seemed far more focused on their own mastery rather than using the ABs as a sign post. -

I think he meant me, I bought up the dickhead giving the fingers after scoring a try and then bleating about others sportsmanship.
