Really looking forward to this year's Mitre 10 Cup. I hope that Canterbury can once again win the title, they have a very strong squad. I am a bit worried about our depth at first five, but hopefully Cameron and McKay can provide backup to Mo'unga if required. We have lots of depth in the forwards, and we'll need this as the Mitre 10 cup can be very attritional. My predicted 1st 23.

Don't be surprised to see McKay at fullback, possibly covering 10.

PRESEASON
Full time:
Waikato 31 - 21 BOPI watched the last 30 mins of this game and walked in to see Reece score under the sticks. He seemed to be playing at FB then and Guildford had moved to the left wing. There was plenty of intent up front. BOP had a few Chiefs players in their team (e.g. Tiatia, Karpik) and at least one ex-Waikato rep (Masirewa). There were a couple of Waikato players I didn't recognise at all, having seen no club rugby this year.
Moli, Ahki, Uhila, Caird and Luke Jacobson didn't play.
It was a blast from the past seeing Sweeney and Delany out there.

YAYYYYY! Its about time he came home. Counties would have been a lot better if we could have kept our players of that generation. Just a shame we were in Division two at that time. The Counties under 16's of 1999 had Jerome Kaino, Joe Rokocoko, John Afoa and the Beaver in it. Casey Laulala and Sitiveni Sivivatu would have been at Wesley at that time or in 2000. Kieran Read could have stayed too. Auckland schools offered Kaino, Afoa and Rokocoko scholarships that year.

An excellent writeup.
I hadn't realised Coxon had moved to Ta$man - the reverse Moli. It makes sense though as he wouldn't get much opportunity at Waikato with 2 young TH props ahead of him.
I'm also happy that Beaver gets to play for Counties again. I only hope it was his choice and that decision wasn't made for him.

All 14 unions recorded surpluses, and 12 had performed better than in 2015, the report said.
