NPC - news, injuries etc

@Tim this is a good pick up for the Turbos , this could also be a good move for Cameron , I thinks he’s had to live in the shadow of some very good Canterbury 1st fives .
This will give him the opportunity to be the starting 10 and develop his game without the history of the players that worn the red and black jersey before .Rivez Reihana has also signed with the Northland Taniwha for 3 years ..Another one returning home , great to see .

Nice, a good 10 is a huge addition to their squad.
-
@Steven-Harris as in Cooper just re-signed for another year? Or he was only signed for one year meaning last year?
-
Southland have announced several signings the past week:
- hookers Greg Pleasants-Tate and Flynn Thomas (GPT now with Suntory Sungoliath in Japan)
- forwards Charles Alaimalo and Joe Walsh (Alaimalo now with Zebre in Italy)
- outside backs Rory van Vugt and Isaac Te Tamaki (van Vugt will be playing MLR first)
- two young lads: Arese Poliko (no. 8 ) and Niko Manaena (prop)
-
@Kiwiwomble Yeah, would love to keep it as the NPC.

So they're doing a survey about the proposed change, but they don't ask the questionwhether you agree with the proposed change. The only thing they're looking at is whether you'd watch more games, or not.
I've just written my opinion in one of the few boxes you could write text in.

Are NZR possibly bringing back the NPC name?
Looking at that, wouldn't it be better to have three regions, from which the top team qualifies, plus a wildcard?
Bringing back the NPC name is a good idea.

@Bovidae I think we all accept that, just rather than the "Mitre 10 Cup" it could have been the "Mitre 10 NPC"...the former sounds like a carpentry comp where the latter sounds like they are sponsoring a rugby comp
like they do for super rugby, same logo with a different name across the top

Why would they need to do a survey about that?
I'd think they'd have quite detailed data around viewing figures for closely matched teams vs mismatches - and games where significant league outcomes hang on results - and where the games are largely meaningless because one or both teams are out of contention for the finals or danger of relegation.

I agree with you, but it was the Air NZ Cup from 2006, then become the ITM Cup and lastly the Mitre 10 Cup. No one ever accused rugby suits to have an imagination.
