NPC - news, injuries etc

@Tim Hard to say with both squads still to be named, but BOP will probably benefit most from the AB7s players being available. IIRC they bolstered their squad with quite a few imports, last year; some of them old-timers. Did these players stay? I know Ainley left, but don't know about the rest.
By the way, will Harbour be strong enough this year, or could they end up being relegated as well? (genuine question, not a dig)

I agree, hard to know, not even all squads are not named yet. BoP may even get lucky round one, with Beauden at least not expected to back up, while Cane was confident of clearance.

In case you can't see the whole picture and don't want to go to Twitter:
They forgot to name the Otago All Blacks not playing this weekend...……………….
-
@Stargazer Harbour have lost quite a few players (e.g. Telea, Duffie, Lua Li, Preston, Parsons, McGahan, Drake, Neenee, Groundwater), so I expect them to struggle this year. If their best players stay fit they should be good for a couple of Premiership wins.
-
That list of available ABs for Mitre 10 Cup comes from this NZR media release:

I had a couple of beers with @tim the other day and had an involved discussion about covid. Some of which I even understood.
Rugby is far more technical and personal, even for a biochemist, and he will have analysed this. So take your pick? Waikato or BOP?
Or he could just be taking the piss..Slight aside, weird expression, a whore mouth being open is bad? I certainly wouldn't expect you to tell a whore to close it. Just saying.

why don't you spend some time explaining to me how the biggest richest union in the country has only won the comp once in 17 years?

2003, 2005, 2007, 2018.

Are they really the richest? Eden park ain't cheap, crowd numbers weren't good.
Anyway the rest is easy. Financial mismanagement, poor selection and coaching. And as Tim has said, it wasn't that bad either.
-
so AB's available for NPC...makes the squad even weirder ...what was the point if theyre not being rested or whatever
-
@Snowy said in Mitre 10 Cup - news, injuries etc:
Gotta say this could be one of the best NPC in my lifetime and if @sparky is correct and we end up with no opposition for the ABs it will be even better.
I think there will be at least a couple of tests against the Aussies in 2020. Looks like the rumoured Pacific Team game has been pulled. God knows about 2020 Rugby Championship.
Agree about NPC. It will be great to see top All Blacks with their provinces for a little bit.
-
worst thing about ABs being available this weekend, still fucking L2!

Jason Rutledge at 42 , has been called into the Southland M10 Cup due to a season ending unjury to Flynn Thomas and Greg Pleasants Tate breaking a finger in last Fridays pre season game against Otago
-
so games will have 'bubbles' of people in attendance.
Northland with 6 bubbles x 100, reckon that will be the lowest attendance I can remember, I do recall a game with sideways rain on a Thursday night where we wouldnt have had much more, maybe 1,000-1,500, was in the early years of Ta$man where we won 9-3, be smallest crowd I have seen previously.
-
An interesting fact:
After the first season of the competition split in 2011, there have been eight different Championship winners in eight years.

Yeah there's very little between the top of div2 and bottom of div1.
It's really easy to drop from div1 and teams that have dropped generally don't bounce straight back up
Despite 8 different winners I believe Northland, Southland & Otago have never been up
-
@Duluth I think Waikato is the only province to gain promotion the season after being relegated. Wellington and Taranaki failed to do that. It took Wellington 2 seasons and Taranaki didn't even make the SFs in their first season in the Championship last year.
-
@Duluth at least we are consistent
Konia may be in his first season as head coach, he has been involved with Northland for the past 2 seasons and a stint previously as well as Assistant Coach

Does anyone know if Kayo/ Foxtel are streaming Mitre 10?

They are under the usual contract - so they’ll miss the odd game here and there for no good reason.

Eek, although that shouldn't matter with Kayo.

Agreed - they shouldn't be constrained as it's a streaming service.

So I just checked Kayo - no upcoming NPC to show us, but the Fox guide has all the games, including the 2 on Sunday!

Benefit of Kayo (if they're showing them) is I can watch them side by side.
