@Yeetyaah said in Mitre 10 Cup - news, injuries etc:
TJ said on commentary during Highlanders vs Blues that Tokolahi and Lamborn are joining the stags this year.
That'll help them compete in the 14 team provincial comp which should replace SR in 2021.

Thurs...
-
@Canes4life Last year, most squads were announced in the week before the start of the competition, although several squads were announced earlier.

Promising first five Zarn Sullivan is being chased by two provinces , Ta$man and Waikato are chasing Sullivan who has not been signed by Auckland at this stage ..Sullivan who is currently playing for College Rifles in the Auckland Club comp would be a very good pick up ..to be brutally honest, this is where the Blues should be working with Auckland, Harbour and Northland to at least keep him at the Franchise
Would be very frustrating if he he ends up at Ta$man or Waikato ..I have no doubt the Magpies would jump at the opportunity of taking Zarn back to the Bay ..but the already have to quality 10s in Falcon & McClutchie. -
@Steven-Harris haha meanwhile Auckland sign Simon Hickey - I mean seriously...
-
@Steven-Harris Falcon has apparently signed with a Japanese club (Gatland said that in an interview). I've no contract info about Falcon with the HBRU; they haven't confirmed his availability for the 2020 Magpies season yet, but I don't expect him to be a Magpie after 2020 if he's signed with the Japanese club for more than one season.
We do have Latrell Smiler-Ah Kiong in the HB academy, but I don't think he's ready for NPC, yet. I'd be very happy if Sullivan came home.
Edited: I was wrong. Falcon is signed with the Magpies for 2020 (not beyond 2020).
-
@KiwiMurph what are they thinking ..?, Are you serious..?,you potentially want someone who can step up to super level..Zarn has got a ton of potential.., can take on the line way better than Hickey ..
-
@Stargazer I have messaged Zarn..I wonder if he is aware that..?, he would be a great fit for the Bay..?
-
@Steven-Harris I just edited my post. Falcon is signed for 2020, but not beyond this year. Falcon played at fullback for the Magpies, last year, but didn't play the full season due to injury. And he's apparently injured again (knee); don't know how serious.
By the way, the Magpies have released players early before, to take up a contract overseas. Not sure what's going to happen with Falcon.

Sullivan would be the same age as Reihana, and they both can't play 1st 5. Then there is Fletcher Smith, who will be the Waikato pivot. Unless he is leaving?

Geezus ...
.
Ta$man have lured a couple of Super Rugby guns south ahead of their Mitre 10 Cup title defence.
Crusaders and All Blacks wing Sevu Reece, and Blues flyer Mark Telea, will play for the provincial champions this year.
Lewis also confirmed midfielder Kieron Fonotia and hooker Quentin MacDonald had returned to New Zealand and would return to the Mako for the 2020 season.
Former Crusader Fonotia, 31, left New Zealand after the 2016 season and has been earning his coin playing for Welsh sides Ospreys and Scarlets.
MacDonald, also 31-years-old, played for the Crusaders, Chiefs and Blues in the past, and amassed 78 caps for Ta$man between 2007 and 2015.
