@Bovidae said in Mitre 10 Cup - news, injuries etc:
I had a pick up our Waikato season passes so took the opportunity to ask why the team lists for the preseason games weren't released like other provinces. The reason given was that the squad hadn't been officially announced yet, although other provinces did just that.
NZR wanted staggered squad releases and Waikato's will be tomorrow morning. A couple of players got injured in the Taranaki game but they wouldn't tell me who. Maybe that will be apparent when the squad is announced.
Alaimalo broke his hand.
someone else broke their leg.. (soz forgotten who that was will find out).
Seu is out for the season.
Tucker still broken
Reserve hooker still broken. -

A player going off on a stretcher usually means the worst so a broken leg doesn't surprise me.

@Stargazer We received an email about this on Friday. Our seats are in the WEL Networks stand so we've been moved to the Brian Perry stand, but still on halfway.
I have no problem with this decision.
It will look very strange if all the cameras remain on the BPS side as the view will be empty red seats.

@Bovidae the cake tin is excellent for watching rugby in my experience.
Agree, I don’t get people’s complaints about it, never noticed the distance from the field that people mention - and it’s corner seats are better than rectangular stadiums in NZ IMHO.

That's my biggest complaint, and while it might not be a dealbreaker for some I prefer to be closer to the field. I'd take Eden Park over the Caketin from a viewer perspective.

@mofitzy_ Ross Harris Thwaites Wardlaw Carroll Blake Karpik Papalii Judd Hollinshead Fuatai Garland Webber Narawa Tiatia the starting 15 from last pre-season game & likely for this week based on 34-0 win.
Cheers. I guess Ainley is too long in the tooth these days. Papali'i is an ex-leaguie? Seems to be a big unit too. Any good?

Didn't play last week so not sure where he stands in the pecking order, probably brought in to provide some experience to a group of inexperienced locks. Wardlaw/Caroll played last year and will get the first opportunity I reckon, Van De Hoven new & White unknown, looks to be out of the Harlequins/NZRU partnership.
Papali'i huuuuuge, big ball carrier which brings a better balance to Steamers loose trio they didn't have last year. Fitness is a work in progress, I'd say he plays 60 then Mua comes on for him. -
