@Unco said in 2016 Mitre 10 Cup - news, injuries etc:
I just noticed the header on the official Mitre 10 website is "Official home of the Investec Super Rugby competition". It's like they're not even trying.
Hmm, where do you see that? I don't see that written anywhere (http://www.mitre10cup.co.nz/).

The title of the webpage, not the banner. Move your mouse over the tab and a description box will pop up showing the full title.

Ahhh, yes, I see it now. Not really noticeable for most people, but if they hired a pro to do their website, it's a mistake that shouldn't have been made.

Elliott Dixon gets a start at 7 on Wednesday night before he flies out on Friday. He's been cooped up in the gym and holding tackle bags for a month or so. Expecting big things!
A good performance here you would think would cement that 6 jumper in a fortnight.

The Women's Farah Palmer Cup Final will be played at ECOlight Stadium, Pukekohe, next Sunday (2 Oct, 2.30pm).
Counties Manukau Heat defeated Wellington Pride 60 to 7 this afternoon.
In the other semi-final Auckland Storm beat Canterbury 33-3.Counties Manukau finished top of the table after the round robin, so they'll play the final at home.
I watched part of the Auckland-Canterbury semifinal and it was a very physical game. The score does not completely reflect the course of the game as Canterbury spent quite some time in the Auckland 22 (esp the last 20 minutes of the first half), but couldn't convert their possession into points. Due to sometimes poor ball handling and other errors, they couldn't get passed a strong Auckland defence. During the second half, the rain started to get more influence on the game and Auckland dealt with the conditions better. Canterbury visibly started to tire and Auckland took advantage. Auckland's much stronger pack dominated the scrum all game, although Canterbury was strong on defence particularly in the first half. It was only 10-3 to Auckland at half-time.
The other semi-final wasn't televised. IMO a big fail on the part of Sky and the NZR, who also scheduled both these games at the same time, preventing supporters in the Auckland area from going to both games (if they had wanted to).
The final will be televised.

Not sure where else to post this:
skudz015 Hey Guys, To everyone that's been asking (and I really appreciate the support) looks like I won't be back until Super Rugby next year. Would have loved to get back out on the paddock this year but it's a bit too early and still some risk of buggering it. In the meantime will keep donning the 'HydrationTechnician' bib for the Turbo lads and I look forward to getting stuck into preseason with the Canes. I really appreciate all the messages & support , thanks a lot!!

@Stargazer The Beaver is back! Watch out Wellington.

Shaun Stevenson moving from Waikato to North Harbour for the Mitre 10 Cup next year.
Also, Jordan Trainor moving from Waikato to Auckland. -
@Stargazer Just reading that myself. Disappointing for Waikato, losing Stevenson moreso, but you can't complain if young players want to move closer to home.
An opportunity for someone to put their hand up at FB for Waikato next year via club rugby.

These Rieko Ioane stats are freakish. Particularly when you consider that his team was misfiring
