Starts tonight with live coverage through the night 5.30pm to 7am NZ time of SkySports 4.

Love this tournament. May not sleep much this evening.

Good news is that both Steve Alker (2nd group at 6.46am) and Danny Lee (5th group 7.19am) are off early so should get a bit of coverage this evening.

Some outstanding feature groups including Speith/Rose/Lowry Willet/Fowler/Day Rory/Matsuyama/Watson Mickleson/Westwood/Els Dustin/Kaymer/Knox Z Johnson/Scott/Stenson

Should be awesome.

Danny only paying $2.30 to win his group against Ramsay and Harris so will take this as usual.

Also given his recent form and the early start $81 for first round leader looks worth a couple of $. Big ask but has a few things in his favour.

I've got a multi on 4 of the groupings for the first round, is paying a lot, so not expecting it to come in....

Have put a few on DJ, if the conditions are benign, his length and form should see him there at the end.

Danny is in great form, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him there or thereabouts on the weekend. Don't think he has the class to get over the line right now, though.

DJ and Day are the two obvious favourites, and I've also invested some hard earned on a few Saffas - Branden Grace and Louis Oosthuizen. The latter is at $41, which IMO is big overs considering he was in a playoff in last year's Open.

As usual, the luck of the draw will count for a lot - conditions forecast to be benign tonight but get a bit windier tomorrow.

So Mickleson so close to an open 62. Last putt did everything but stay in the hole. Great opening round that has put him 3 shots clear.

Plenty of big names up there, particularly US ones.

Danny though almost last and unlikely to make the cut

Thought it might have been Rory's 6 shots to get out of the bunker but was Daly with a pint!

I've watched a fair bit and yep go Henrik!

Course isn't overly long but so susceptible to the conditions. First 3 par 4s are under 400 yards and Jason day (and a few others) were firing the drives right up there. There is a 100 yard par 3 too!

Yeah the hours aren't great for it hey. Over here the leaders don't tee off until around midnight, which means a long night if you want to stay up. I have watched a fair bit of the earlier groups though.

It's been hugely affected by the draw - the late/early guys had a big advantage. 10 of thecurrent top 11 were from that half of the draw.

All of the Aussies have bombed out, and really the two-horse race doesn't interest me a huge amount. I'm cheering for Henrik, obviously, but not enough to stay up until 4am doing so.

Extraordinary last day of which I saw none but 2 leaders are 4 shots clear going into the final day and shoot 63 and 65 - talk about dominance! Next best score was Rory's 67 on the final day and most struggled to break par. Oddest major leaderboard I've seen in a long time.

Stenson -20

Mickelson -17

Holmes -6

Stricker -5

McIlroy

Hatton

Garcia -4

I don't think I would have mind if Mickleson won it in the end.

Talk about wisdom of age. Taught the young ones a lesson in conditional play.

Also when you have a lead over the pack like that it can be dull but it was one of the most exciting final days play I can remember

Just watched the final round replay now. Never seen anything like that, two blokes going toe-to-toe for 18 holes in a major with daylight 3rd.

Stenson... wow. And Phil shot 65! Just phenomenal. They will make a documentary about that round someday, truly memorable stuff. And they walked off the 18th green together, arm in arm.

Find it hard to keep my totally irrational hate of Mickelson up after that.
