Are there any Ferners, who are planning to go to these warm-up matches and could provide some commentary after the game (assuming these games won't be broadcasted on tv or radio, or livestreamed online)?

Friday 24 June:

Blues v Northland Barbarians, kick-off 6.30pm (NZT), Toll Stadium, Whangarei (http://www.taniwha.co.nz/latest-news/club-rugby/1305-blues-vs-northland-barbarians/)

It's a pity the game isn't livestreamed. I have actually never seen Renton play and this might be his only opportunity for the Canes this year. I assume he's behind Lamborn in the loose forward pecking order, but hopefully the fact that he's fit to play means that he will finally be available for the Magpies this year. It's long overdue. I also see Cridge is named on the bench. Glad he's getting some game time, too.

I also noticed this in the Hurricanes media release:

Unavailable due to international duty: TJ Perenara, Julian Savea, Ardie Savea, Dane Coles, Beauden Barrett (All Blacks), Motu Matu'u (Samoa), Tony Lamborn (USA), Leni Apisai, TJ Va'a, Peter Umaga-Jensen (New Zealand Under 20s).

Two things:

this seems to imply, as C4L has pointed out earlier in another thread, that PU-J is part of the Hurricanes squad

however, how reliable is this info if they also indicate he's with the NZU20s while he clearly isn't?

http://www.hurricanes.co.nz/the-canes/news/single/item/hurricanes-name-team-to-play-rebels-in-warm-up-match/

    The mystery of Umaga Jensen.

He has been training with them. He is only 18 so they may not want to rush him into pro footy too fast.

He did play the Western Force in pre season (evidence on Youtube) this year so he is defs involved in the some degree.

Maybe he is an apprentice at this stage. Who bloody.knows. Aslong as we have this kid signed by next year il be happy.

It's been 10 weeks since his injury, and the recovery time was 8 weeks, so he should be good to go now.
