Why is this suddenly such a thing? It's been available for years via non-sanctioned websites, but as soon as the official org does it, badly, it's a thing?
Genuine question... WTF?Bragging you won a fantasy comp no one's heard of is laughable. Pointing out you came first in your league of an official comp is something you can put on Tinder.
Fair enough. Was just having a bit of a Grumpy-Old-Man moment last night, after spending a couple of hours alone at a craft brewery on Valentine's Day and realising that the barmaid I thought had been hitting on me for weeks - was actually married with kids, and probably just being faux-friendly in search of tips. Fuck I hate this tipping bullshit.
Oh - and it seems my stupid simplistic strategy didn't work out quite so well. Without having looked at the actual scoring system - I figured I'd not pick the "best" players - but just the journeyman players playing shit teams. All the forwards from whoever's playing the Drua/Pacifica, midfield/outside backs from whoever's playing the Force - and halves... : shrug: - can't remember what my thinking was there, but it was shit. I think I got carried away with picking rubbish, so just continued.
Fuck this fantasy bullshit. I might go download The League - watch that, and try to work up enthusiasm to organise a Fantasy-Rugby league like that.
-
8th not a bad start.
I havent really played many fantasy leagues before but it did help with interest levels for this round
-
i accidently had Tangitau as my captain thankfully it paid dividends however having players not playing at all like Proctor and Valetini didnt help. i really should be paying attention to starting line ups smh
-
@BerhamporeNinja I haven't played since the noughties in fact that was how I stumbled upon the fern, looking for team info), but with the symbols now that's a poor excuse....
-
Damn I was 50/50 on Roigard or DMac captain.. chose wrong and that cost me a spot in the top 10.
I see two of my players have byes next week (Tahs props), but I can't just remove them from my team, I have to transfer them even though I don't know who is playing next weekend.
I'll have another read of the rules, but does anyone know if player value will go up and down? E.g. if they have bye and everyone sells, will their value decrease? I think given unlimited transfers I'll transfer them now for players I think will play just in case.
-
@No-Quarter yeah I just did that...Reds at home to MP could be a good reason to pick up a few Reds
-
And yeah I transferred out 3 and it wouldn't let me confirm...was inly then I realised I was 2m short if what I needed

Do your picked on weds evening or later, once teams confirmed
-
@Machpants if you wait till Weds the player values will change markedly by then and you'll end up losing a lot of money. If I wait till Weds to swap my Tahs out they'll be worth almost nothing when I do the transfer. I was hoping I could just remove players from my team and then wait till Weds to replace, but it makes you swap them.
-
If player value changes, it'd be great to be able to see a history of each players value changes. When it changed and by how much.
-
@No-Quarter yeah that's what I tried to do, swap em out and wait...guess you could sell the tahs now, or ditch a couple of expensive poor performers, buy a couple of the cheap top performers from the weekend, people load up on them in the week, thier value increases and then swap them for who you really want once teams are.named??

I don't have enough time and enthusiasm for that! Think I will just ignore until Friday afternoon. And I'm 12th thanks to Dmac as captain and Carter being a good pick (not just a sentimental one)
-
My selection of loose forwards was my biggest downfall (outside of not picking DMac as captain - rookie error) to shoehorn in expensive players elsewhere. So my position in the bottom third is meeting expectations.

Yeah that's true, with unlimited transfers you can try and make money in the meantime before locking in your final team
-
One expensive poor performer I'll sell is Blackadder. I threw up in my mouth a little when I chose him, but I figured he'd score plenty of points from all the ineffectual tackles he makes. But then he only got 1 point per tackle and did sweet F all else.

78 minutes, both sides of the ball for 16 miserable points.

Looks to me like there's no such thing as "making money".
I left $20M in the bank the first week - nek week- I get the same budget as everybody else.
I strongly suspect the "prices" of players aren't going to change mid-week. Or rather - that "owning" any player during a week - is not of any help whatsoever.
It's just a very simplistic "you've got 100 coins every week, 'buy' 15 players with those coins, as we set pretty arbitrary prices for them based on their reputation for starters, then form each week"
I'm curious to see - if one chooses 15 players with a total of "$99M" one week - then they all have a blinder - and are ranked to a total of 200 $ next week... could one transfer one out, even for a lower 'priced' player - when the total budget would still be over $100? Can you just leave the team as-is? What, how, why... maybe the rules explain it - but I fucking doubt it... glancing at their "FAQ's" - like any "FAQ's" - it should be re-labelled "FAQ's for idiots".
