Bracewell coming in now is a good thing. He will love this small ground.

Is chapman the worst player to ever play for NZ. Why haven’t they given Jacobs a go.

Our 10th highest run getter in T20 cricket. Has played some cracking innings for NZ.

Glen Phillips has been a missing in this series far to expensive with the ball and failing with the bat.

Squeaky bum time for NZ, probably should have paid Hasaranga a bit more respect and play each ball on its merit.

That feels pretty decisive, we don't have the batting to get home from here.

Well done NZ reaching 200, but needed one of our bigger names to be at the crease for the late overs. Good win SL. Entertaining game at least

Built almost entirely on games outside of NZ

His record in NZ is poor.

Missed opportunity to have a look at Jacobs

And now Jacobs isn't involved in the ODIs.

All of the top/middle order had at least one substantial score (40+) except Phillips.

Glen Phillips was a star in India and like a few others decided to go on holiday since then. Couldn’t catch a flu currently and gets more runs from Sri Lankan street food than off the bat.

    Hope form comes back soon

On the plus side. What a massive series for Jake Duffy. Has to play in the one dayers. Him, Henry and O'Rourke as the primary seamers. Phillips could be the man in danger of missing out. Weather looking shit in Wellington for the first game of the series on Sunday.

@Chris having seen more of him than me, and being a coach, I am interested in your thoughts on Foulkes. From the little I have seen he looks to be struggling to control the inswing (which seems a lot more pronounced than many bowlers going around at the moment) and as such I get the feeling it is hurting his confidence and rhythm. I got the same feeling when I have watched him bowling for Canterbury.

I wonder if a kid like him would be better suited to clocking up the miles in the longer game where he could learn about his bowling without the immediate pressure of the limited over game? I also think this could help his batting - I recall McMillan saying a couple of seasons ago he thought Foulkes was a better batter than bowler, but I have yet to see any evidence of that.

Foulkes looks to have some promise, but I would hate to see his confidence destroyed.

I pretty much agree with everything you posted.
I feel Zac is being mishandled atm,He has an in swinger which moves off the pitch but can also move late and a long way in the air.
He really was a batter first who bowled a bit and has real potential as a bat.
Learning his trade in the international t20 world is a harsh school for a bowler, especially being thrown in as a death bowler it is going to impact his confidence and his ability to use his attacking skills with the ball.

He could develop in to a very good player in all forms but he does need time in the longer form even ODIs would help.
Foulkes is in danger of being misused and a talented player ruined in a short time.
Not much room for a bowler to operate in t20s which is inclined to make you very defensive not ideal for learning about you game.

Auckland in the shit, but a good opportunity for Bevan Jacobs to bat time against an international bowling attack (Canterbury)

Good opener from Auckland called Guptill. Really taking it to Canterbury. Certainly showing Jacobs a trick or two. Jacobs has hit two very good sixes. Has been a bit hit and miss apart from those shots. Currently 22 off 16.

So ODI squad changes. Foulkes, Jacobs and Robinson out. Latham, Young and O'Rourke in for the ODIs I think.

Straight swap O'Rourke for Foulkes and Latham for Robinson. I suppose Latham will take the gloves, Young will fit in for Hay, or maybe they keep Hay and drop Chapman? Bracewell missing out for Smith quite likely too .

Should be able to put together a decent team out of the bits available.

Weather is rubbish in Wellington, so will be interesting to see if we get a game tomorrow. I'd go for this team if it does go ahead. 1. Ravindra 2. Young 3. Chapman 4. Latham/Mitchell 5. Latham/Mitchell 6. Bracewell 7. Santner 8. Smith 9. Henry 10. Duffy 11. O'Rourke. Latham always bats in the middle order. The other option is to play him or Mitchell at three, bring in Phillips at five. I'd take Mike Bracewell initially ahead of GP, he has a better one day record with both bat and ball. Batting line up could be a bit weak should a few wickets fall early.
