No as both their wives are from Christchurch so they both moved there to be near the wives families.
That was the reason not a national cricket base.

Not sure that is pure speculation.
And may not have a bearing at all.
Once Moose had kids they moved from Hamilton to Christchurch so they had family support for their kids.
