    @booboo exactly

    also think it a bit of we were batting amazingly above our weight for a long time...and more recently its just been batting well above our weight...but people dont think about it like that and only compare to when we were amazing

    It is "punching" above our weight, our batting is flakey at best and prone to collapse.

    Yeah but a country of a billion collapsed to 46 against us just the other day

    "Aotearoa has a lot of aura" ... considering most of the continent is underwater.

    What is so poignant about this victory is that not only was it against South Africa our nemesis in Rugby and 7s, it was around a year ago since the Rugby World Cup final give or take. I really believe this weekend has probably cemented us as probably the best sporting nation per capita in the World. In order to reach the final we had to beat the West Indies who are essentially a collection of small countries including the three who were ahead of us in medals per capital at the Olympics.

    Hyperbole or what?

    Got to accept that at a global level all the weekend's successes were in niche sports

    We are one of the wealthier countries in the world, yes I think we do punch above our weight, but we also have more money and resources to put into our sporting teams than loads of other countries. It's a pretty difficult thing to judge with so many variables.

    interestingly 22nd out of 192. I thought we'd be lower!

    Aussies were very good in Paralympics, pretty sure their funding would be amongst the best of any nation. Kiwis did pretty well at Paralympics per capita. Have to commend Oz in this respect.

    Or not. Given the population of the Indian subcontinent alone is nearly 2 Billion, cricket is pretty big for a niche sport.

    Have your say: Was this New Zealand's best sporting weekend ever?
