No comment on Brad Mooar I could say a lot but just not worth the time.
You said Mainsbridge didn't get along with Mooar and they booted him out in 2019 cos they reckoned he was kinda shit.........so why has he been brought back?

I said Razor didn't get on with Mooar.
And the reason they brought him back because Penny is an idiot and so is Colin who didn't like Mooar because Razor didn't but loves him now because Penny does, which sums up Colin perfectly. -
@Chris Why are Crusaders always so in-house and insular with their coaching picks?
It all comes down to having an existing connection with Canterbury or Crusaders culture as a former player or coach. Why do they rarely look outside of their own backyard?
Ronan O'Gara was sought out by Razor himself and that decision was a raging success.....the players mentioned how good it was to be exposed to a different (NH) perspective, set mindset from having O'Gara in camp.
What are they scared of? It's delivered titles before (Colin Cooper 2002, Vern Cotter 2005 & 2006, Goodman,, O'Gara, etc...)

Two heads are better than one?
At least that is what they tell me in Tasmania. -

Rob Penny and Colin Mansbridge are the answers.

@Chris How can you dislike Rob Penney? He's an outstanding bloke.

Do you know him personally do you.
He is just a shit coach I don’t dislike the person just the methods.
Razor is a great bloke too in fact an outstanding bloke so is Scott Hanson.
If you expected me to watch your video you are deluded. -

Oh they're several times removed.
But once the police leave, they keep coming back. -

No amount of dramatic music along with some grainy stills of him in the red n black hoops will make up for him being a coach that still makes a lot of errors.
I am not convinced.

You could say the same about Razor in 2024 - complete misuse of his bench resulting in two choke losses to SA and also going from 20-point leads in three different games against England and Australia to very nearly losing all 3 of them.... Rotating McKenzie from 10 after the momentum of the Ireland game - Subbing our best performing player (Roigard) while in the lead against France. The list of monumental errors goes on....

Robert van Royen in a stuff opinion piece:
Say what you will about the red an blacks signing O’Connor, but this much is clear - the 34-year-old former Wallaby is a big upgrade from Riley Hohepa. Just how much he is relied upon will depend on the progress of Kemara and Reihana, who have 18 Super Rugby caps between them. Reihana was guilty of telegraphing passes, shifting the ball too quickly and not keeping defensive lines honest with his legs when he had opportunities last year, Touted as Richie Mo’unga’s long-term successor, Kemara has been hindered by injuries and was released to play club rugby after his confidence took a hit last year.
An honest summary of Reihana. This will be his 5th season with a SR side. Surely the fundamentals should be better by now
What are Crusaders fans thoughts on Kemara? Is he likely to step up this year? More of a longer term option?
JOC - do you think he was only signed as insurance for the under performing options or do you think Penney will pick him to start immediately?
The JOC question is probably moot anyway.. given his recent seasons he'll probably be injured more often than not
-
@Duluth TBF, wasnt last year Reihanas first super start after not being given much of a chance in the chiefs (read into that what you will) given I think both he and Kemara werent probably set to start too many games last year but for the early injury to Burke.
I think Kemara would be ranked behind Reihana, which highlights the issues the Crusaders have at 10.
He has the skills to be a starting super 10, and I thought his defence had improved massively during last years NPC, and certainly seems a confidence player, of which he was low when he got to NPC, hopefully that wasnt due to the Crusader environment.

@SBW1 Crusaders should be better than last year but not sure they are good enough to win the title - I simply don't believe Penney is a good enough coach for that.
He would be the coaching Lazarus if he managed that.
