The Chiefs keep going in and out of games, especially with DMac not on the park. It nearly cost them against these guys last time out and against the Landers recently.

It's doubtful Vaa'i will be playing as he failed his HIA near the end of the Highlanders game. I'd be starting Lord and MSR with Ah Kuoi to provide the impact off the bench. Hopefully ALB is back too.

I can see sense in giving him a breather, he done a lot of minutes and can see he looks a little iffy on one leg. I reckon it sometimes good to put your back ups in to bit harder game, and beside Ioane will have whole week knowing he starting, and best of all Jacomb might get a run of bench!!

McMillan has obviously got a plan for player management. MP is next round so they could have rested DMac then. The majority of the regular 23 have had at least one week off so far.

You find out more about the backup by playing him with the rest of the top side. It's easy to make a comparison with only one variable changed

Assuming it's Ioane, I wonder if he'll go better after a full weeks preparation? Actually being the general for the full week not just stepping in here and there
