    @KiwiMurph

As a Blues fan I agree he needs a good off season to recover.

Yes Ennor too... I think Z Sullivan fits into the same category as JRK, where they were always going to be up against it once Fihaki was named as training cover.

McWhannell is a good player, but I wouldn't have him ahead of any of those other four.

I would imagine McMillan would have pushed for Sullivan over Fihaki but its a losing battle.

There are a few provincial captains in the squad, although most are in positions where they will be subbed. Others not guaranteed to start.

Some pretty unlucky players missing out there.

Fihaki is kissed on the dick, but we knew that already.

Those hookers are all fucking average.

I’m surprised there is no Ennor - none of those guys are out and out 13s.

@Bovidae Only a guess, but I'm going Christie and CLW as co-captains.

2024 is quite a momentous year. Apparently, the Pope has just decreed there will be two Easters.

The usual one - and another one in October to commemorate Surf Jesus raising Hoskins from the dead!

Only 6 Crusaders. How dare they not show bias to all our players .
Good to see my source is accurate again.

Would have thought George Bower would be there or on standby for Ethan De Groot.

I'd like to see a back row with Sotutu and Lakai in it

Well, aside from the obvious amazement at Hoskins' selection (please make him captain, Razor), the biggest surprise for me is no Ricky Riccitelli - with Eklund seemingly preferred. I guess we'll wait for any forthcoming news, but Ricky came off the bench for Taranaki at the weekend and I don't recall him hobbling off.

Aside from that, seems like most of the rest of the squad were name-checked on the fern. Don't recall du Plessis Kirifi getting many mentions, but he's an incumbent from last year.

Dallas McLeod the other surprise for me - though I guess being a test player last year, it's not that big of a surprise. I thought he was pretty poor in Super rugby, but I haven't watched much of Canterbury in the NPC so maybe he's gone better in recent times.

Did McMillan have a hand in selection?

@Chris-B Kirifi has been out injured for a while with the broken jaw.

It's interesting that Ryan and Cotter have different views on the merits of Riccitelli and Eklund.

@canefan Yes - led by Razor and McMillan with input from coaches in both squads was what I read.

Yeah - TBH I'd have thought Ricky comfortably.

I feel if Lio-Willie was selected as an 8 only, Brayden Iose probably should have got that position. Aside from Sotutu, Iose was the form 8 in Super Rugby and has been solid for Manawatu this year. Lio-Willie didn’t do much tbh.

Riccitelli also the other guy that would be a little peeved I reckon.

Lio Willie is a good player as is Iose. It make sense they favour the Crusader guy - like they've done with most of the other selections. Out of all the Crusaders players that don't deserve selection in the squads Lio Willie is not one of them. He's also played 6 for the Crusaders.

Plays 6 and 8 very well which will be a bit important in that squad as well. They only have 5 loosies (plus Ah Kuio I guess), so his selection makes sense.

I thought he was easily the best crusaders loose forward this year too.
