Brumbies v Crusaders
-

Lovely! The Brumbies minus their 'cock are seriously neutered at the breakdown.

-

is amazing the number of players putting thier hands up this year, is great to see!

He was superb. Loved the try he set up for Macilai. Fuck we have some talent in the 7 jumper post McCaw - Cane, Savea, Todd and Gibson are all players other countries would kill for. -

You mean 'all other countries except England who insist they don't need a real 7' don't you?
-

Another good effort. Taylor, Todd, Barrett, Read, Mo'unga, Havili, Nadolo, Macilai and Dagg all notably good.

Bonus point win in Canberra not to be sniffed at - close the gap to the Chiefs to one point. Incidentally are the Chiefs a registered charity or do they have to give 33% of last night's points to the government? :)
-

It's funny how many (esp foreign media) were saying that the All Blacks would be seriously weakened this year because of all those players leaving/retiring. If you look at the complete dominance of the NZ conference over other conferences in Super Rugby, the players that have stepped up and have shown they're worth being considered for the black jersey, and the enormous pool of great players the AB selectors can pick from, there's no reason to think the ABs will be much weaker than last year.
-

Haha yeah England did cross my mind when I typed that. -

so top 6 on points

Chiefs

Crusaders

Stormers

Lions

HUrricanes

Highlanders
-
Also Macilai >> McNicholl.

Well there was the current best team in the comp.

Most impressed.

That was far better than the Chiefs performance against the Brumbles. More dominant.

Todd was excellent.

The Saders D was stinging. Hugely aggressive, knocking over and backwards behind the advantage line.

Agree with whoever praised Jaco too. Thought he had a good game. -
Except he missed a sitter of a knock on from Cabelli which would have given the crusaders a 5m attacking scrum. But otherwise very good I agree.

That was all pretty much wishful thinking given who we already had as replacements. Midfield may be a touch raw but weve got experienced players there, Cane (who frankly if he did Jazz hands and was Aussie their jingoistic media would be fawning alllll over) has always been Richie's replacement and the other centurions were already on the way out.

But it has been heartening that so many players are standing up and saying "pick me". -

Matt Todd seems to have stepped up a gear this year especially in terms of physicality. He really is impressive. Bit of a throwback to the old style type seven. Then again so has Sam Cane who is becoming a real beast and Ardie Savea who is making big strides. There is some serious talent running around.

Yeah um, feeling pretty good after watching that, we've won 7 in a row including games in Durban, Johannesburg, Perth and Canberra (shitholes), and some good players looking pretty bloody smart as a team. A few little things to worry about obviously.

The Bumboys weren't terrible, defended well and made plenty of concerning breaks, but they but didn't like the pressure at all and got rattled. Moor is a meathead when things aren't going his way, Ellis got right up his enormous nose.

The best players have been mentioned above, BUT; Todd was excellent; Reado's leadership is amplified in a small but important way by Ellis'; Nadolo Is A Deadset Canterbury Legend; I wanted to see more Damien McKenzie's Brother but Mo'anga SUDDENLY started kicking well - that clearance to touch for the lineout(s) and try was beautiful; also nice to see the bench being emptied and the replacements adding something, patterns worked etc; Fancy-shirted Bumboys could live offside and pass forward and still get rodgered.
-
Although Johnny Mc is more reliable under the high ball and does seem to know how to bounce out of tackles pinball styles.

Jone Mac has serious wheels though which is also great to have on the end of an attacking line. -
Nadolo has been cited.

Hopefully not more than a 1 week ban...

...back in time for the next game...
