I'm surprised WR hasn't adopted the solution of permitting goal posts to be moved. Only last week while warming up with some touch footy, one of our players munted himself colliding with a post. Then new grounds and improvements could slowly get them out of the way. As it is you can't score against the base of them anymore and there'd be the benefit of not having as many penalties attempted from over halfway.

@Dan54 allowable points of players? like too many players on the bench or something
"and now we turn to our local NSW club football correspondent @NTA....."
This is purely a Premier Rugby thing here in Sydney as far as I can tell.
Players are given a points value depending on things like whether they're a test or pro player etc. You get discounts if you're a local junior and such.
The idea is like a salary cap - even playing field. Sample sheet:

oh...makes some sense, in the dunedin club final (green island v mighty Dunedin) i saw green island had three highlanders on their bench and another 1-2 starting

@NTA It's also in Hospital Cup in Qld to I think. Mate from there was the one who explained it to me. Seems reasonable system and not sure how Easts can claim they made mistakes etc.
Just a thing of mine with some clubs seem to be able to bend/break rules and get away with it.
Something my club in Brisabne had to fight all the time not being a prem club, but not a Subbies, we actually played in Senior first down (to prevent us becoming a prem club) because of some dodgy rules up theer a few years back and were always copping shit like this. -
@Dan54 SRU aka the Shute Shield Clubs are a law unto themselves. And within that there is a clique - a handful of those clubs like Easts who tell the others to suck their dick, and the silly fluffybunnies bring their own lip balm. I don't get it.

....Nemani Nadolo is on the bench for our opposition tomorrow, all reports are he's put on a few pounds since his prime....but not sure id want to be tackling him

I'd love to be tackling him. Great story to tell your mates... if you survive.
Even if he goes over you like Lomu did to Mike Catt, still something to remember!

...if you remember any of it

i'll show the boys any match footage

I remember when Ryan Cross was playing for Balmain in Sydney subbies. Poor bloke was targetted pretty hard. Everyone wanted to say they put a shot on a Wallaby. But he took it well.
On that note one of my high/low career moments was sustaining a bad ankle injury when I was poleaxed by Hugh Pyle. No idea what he was doing playing subbies colts, he was playing for the Rebels within a year!

@barbarian my brother claim to fame was a try saving tackle on Byron Kelleher (little bit smaller than Nadolo), went to school with Sir Richie but dont think ever played against him

@NTA
The Aussie Super Rugby teams should do something like this for the players with ARU contracts. Spread the top talent around. The NZ AB contracted players seem to spread out naturally around the NZ Super franchises. Doesn't happen in Oz.Maybe one of the reasons the Brumbies are so good is they get the Waratah cast offs. Chip on the shoulder castoffs.
Reds have enough talent on their own to be competitive.
Waraths are just fat and lazy.
Rebels did get competitive, but had to pay for it. And we've seen what happened there.
Force will have to pay a big premium to get Wallaby contracted players. But would go the same way as the the Rebs real quick if they did.

Back office is definitely a basket case in terms of identifying and retaining talent.
I like your plan to spread talent around, but the problem is club rugby doesn't give a fuck what NSW Rugby says, and never has.
