This seemed the best place to post this article. I've heard and read a lot of good things about this lad. Reece Akuhata may be a future Magpie.
Larsen has coached Magpies speedsters Jonah Lowe and Sam McNicol at beach sprinting and he said Akuhata is faster than what both of them were at the same age. "I have no doubt Reece will end up playing as a winger for the Magpies," Larsen said. "It would be good to play for the Magpies but I'm focusing on a career in architecture when I leave school and if any professional sporting opportunities came along I would consider them a bonus," Akuhata, who boasts the nickname "Wheels" for obvious reasons, said.At his school's athletics champs earlier this month Akuhata collected five first placings and two seconds. His winning 100m time of 11.18s was a personal best. "Mason [Magpies winger Emerson] holds the school record of 10.98s which he set in 2012. I'm hoping to better it next year,"Akuhata said.A second-season player in the school's 1st XV rugby side, Akuhata, will travel to the United Kingdom with the team in October. The team has already started pre-season games. Because of the United Kingdom trip Akuhata, a former Hawke's Bay Ross Shield, under-14 and under-16 rugby rep, won't be chasing any rep rugby this season. New Hastings Boys' High School First XV rugby captain, Udy-Johns, 18His troops have been unbeaten in buildup games and walloped St Edmund College from Canberra 73-7 on Friday.10 of last year's 24-strong extended squad are in the tour party. Four of the 10, Udy-Johns, loosie Donovan Mataira and utility backs Jordan Thompson-Dunn and Gideon Kautai, were regular starters last year. "Five Year 11 boys have come up from our under-15 team from last year and most are from the Second XV. Expect big things from our winger Michael Naitokani. I believe he will be better than Kini was last year," Sturch said referring to New Zealand Secondary Schools player-of-the-year Kini Naholo who scored 41 tries in 21 games for HBHS last year. Are Napier the Hurricanes School to beat?
Napier Boys' High School have continued their commanding from against Hurricanes region opponents, comfortably accounting for Scots College 33-7 in Wellington today. On a heavy surface in Strathmore, Napier's forwards controlled territory and were never seriously threatened by the hosts, despite a brilliant solo try to wing Ethan Webster-Nonu on halftime. Down 21-0, Webster-Nonu retrieved a kick from inside his 22 and turned rapidly beating at least four defenders on his way to the line. It was a rare bright spot in a largely forgettable spectacle. Napier established their lead on the back of good industry by their pack. The likes of Patrick Teddy, Hayden Davis and Josh Gimblett all carried with authority and three tries were created from the 'pick and go' with Davis and halfback Angus Klimister among the first-half scorers. Scots defended stoutly at the start of the second spell as Napier were twice denied tries, one that awarded and later overruled and another that should have been credited, but was missed. Eventually Napier broke through when Scots attempting to clear their own goal line fired a wayward pass which was dived on by centre Jack Sheridan. Napier No.8 Luke Russell had the final say, forwards scoring four of the five tries by the visitors. After a winless tour to South Africa, Napier have beaten the top four sides from Wellington this year and the 2017 semi-finalists, as well as Wairarapa College 50-10 last Wednesday in their annual traditional. Napier starts their Super 8 campaign this Saturday with a home fixture against Gisborne Boys' High School before an eagerly anticipated local derby against reigning National Champions, Hastings Boys' High School on June 16. Scots will seek their third win on the trot in the local competition this Saturday when the hosts winless Hutt International Boys' School. Napier Boys’ High School win against Hurricanes scores: Beat St Pat’s Silverstream 40-22 Beat St Pat’s Town 68-8 Beat Wellington College 34-3 Beat Wairarapa College 50-10 Beat Scots College 33-7I had noticed Napier Boys' good results since returning from SA. I'm not sure where they're sitting yet and which expectations are realistic. Wellington Schools may be in a dip. But expecting Hasting BHS not to be as good as the previous two years, it would be great if Napier Boys' can go far this year. It would be awesome to have another Bay school in the Super 8 final, or - dreams are free - even reaching the National Top 4. We'll find out soon ...

Huge game in the North Harbour schools comp this weekend with Takapuna Grammer hosting Westlake.
Both teams unbeaten sitting locked on 54 points each on the standings with the 3rd place team back on 33 points.
They met earlier in the season and had a 27 - 27 draw. Hopefully a cracking game. May be the case of who turns up best after a 3 week break for school holidays
