The downside of having two Bay teams in Super 8 is that once one of them beats the other, it helps Hamilton on the competition table. Esp with Hastings already having suffered one loss, it would have been better for us as a region if Napier had won.
Now, they basically are still in with a shot, but both have to beat Hamilton to be able to finish top of the table and get a home Super 8 final.

Fulltime! A good, well-deserved win to Hastings. Although it has to be said that it was again mostly handling errors letting Napier down. If they'd fixed that, it would have been a lot closer.
FT: Hastings Boys 25 - 14 Napier Boys
Woohoo. Annoyingly I couldn’t watch this one, so as ever thanks for the updates.
Good win for the plucky underdogs over the Crusaders of the Bay.
I assume the conditions were better than what Hastings had to deal with last weekend?

@Nepia Yeah, quite a lot of rain overnight but as Stargazer said not much wind to speak of. I did not need gumboots at Whitmore Park and did not get my shoes even the slightest bit wet so things are certainly better weather and ground wise in HB at the moment than in many other parts of the country. Because neither @stockcar86 or myself were present the game does not really mean anything!

Just saw this. HBT couldn't be bothered to write a proper match report of the biggest Hawke's Bay school derby of the season, unfortunately.
Reverse the result and it would be a two page write up.

By the way, it's 15 minutes into the 2nd half and it's 0 - 10 to FDMC.
Lindisfarne have spent quite a bit of time near FDMC's try line, but haven't managed to score. FDMC's only try was scored against the run of play. Lindisfarne also don't seem to have the ref on their side.

Napier's maul was good at first, but Tauranga disrupting it, but illegally. The resulting penalty, ends with a Napier player throwing the ball into touch. I hope it's not again one of those matches they're going to lose due to handling errors. They look better.
The Hastings game is underway now, too.
