Black Caps v South Africa

Even though we've almost certainly got enough, I would bat on tomorrow and take the Jaaps completely out of the game - even mathematically - set them 600 in 5.5 sessions.
Need to ensure we remove that "never beaten them in a series" and giving their bowlers a bit more work will help a bit in test 2.

He leaves Hayden, Root and Chanderpaul behind in career hundreds.
One behind the Aussie Steves - Smith and Waugh now. 21 innings less than SS. 90 innings less than SW.
That is incredible reading.
A couple or three years ago Smith very clearly lead that ‘big four’
Not anymore. It’s him AND KW now.

It's not just about this game, we can weaken their bowlers for the rest of the series. I remember the Aussies did that to us in the Perth day night test a few years ago and we never recovered in that series

They are now. Declare 10 mins before start of play. Fucks with their head enough.
Still pisses me off we don't enforce the follow on.
We bowled like 2 sessions. They're demoralised. 360 behind. We have seven bowlers, 2 and a half days, and 3 new balls.
I do not understand.

Only 3 ahead of him in the number of centuries list currently with a better average (Smith, Sangakara, Kallis).

I'm no Francis Payne, but from my quick check.. Kane also just surpassed Howarth (held since 78) for the most aggregate runs in a test match where batter scores a 100 in each innings minimum for a NZer. So 2 x 100 needed in a test for this.
top spot globally unlikely to get beaten in a while... virtual chocolate fish if anyone wants to guess who holds it?

Random guess ... Chris Gayle ... no reason...

Have to say credit to SENZ for the radio commentary.
Smithy, Coney and Bracewell just excellent.
Non "expert" comms Garth Galloway (who has been around for years), McHardy and some fulla I've never heard of doing a pretty good job. Even the forced commercial messages are not too overt.
Occasionally a bit caught in the narrative they can be a bit delayed with the description, but generally not bad.
But the 3x explayers are excellent.
Am not a fan of SENZ generally. Really struggle with Izzy Dagg, and Smithy isn't awesome when he's scripted, thus have not ventured too far into their shows.
But muchly enjoying their commentary given current lack of televisual visioning.

Always enjoyed Coney as a commentator.

I don't understand the question!

@bayimports I don't understand either

@KiwiPie
That would be Graham Gooch for the poms
hes scored 300 odd in one bat and followed it with a 100 in his 2nd.Yes !
@Virgil is back !
How good is KW going huh ?
I remember that test pretty much transformed Gooch from an 80s battler to a bit of a legend. First triple hundred in SIXTEEN years. NO ONE scored one in the 80s.
Is Tubby Taylor second ? ( triple ton and 90 odd in a single test )
Lara with 400 is obviously up there too.

Only Smith and Tendulkar got to 31 Test 100's quicker as well
Also another cool stat, in the 9 tests hes played while Southee has been captain hes scored over 1100 runs, has hit a total of 7 x 100's, no 50's and averages 80.00

Yep I'm a fan of not enforcing the follow on and absolutely demoralising the other team but making them chase more than 500.
@MN5 I was going to say the same, I remember 2 metre Peter hitting those tons and one of them was up around the 140 mark I think? Though there may be some old school person like Turner that has done it as well.
