Black Caps v South Africa

Well Wags means that the hole we're in isn't as bad as it could have been. We'll need to bowl phenomenally well. Be interesting to see how South Africa bats, first time this series they've been batting while ahead of the game, might be a bit easier for them.
-
@Cyclops I expect us to still win this test, because we surely can't engineer so many dismal dismissals in the second innings - and we've got better batting and bowling than the Jaaps.
Though, we should probably have played Santner.
These bowlers better come out angry and absolutely firing!

Someone needs to bowl fucken well, preferably with some magnificent support.
The non Santner selection is odd given we essentially have a specialist number seven batsman which is weird.
I don’t expect us to win, it’s more a case of hoping.

Phillips unable to bowl due to his Shoulder leaves us with just one spinner on a pitch taking spin not ideal.
Kane to risk a chuck?

How many years have you been watching the Black Caps for now?
When someone's expecting a win, we generally threaten 26

Commentators were discussing Latham and his place in the annals of NZ cricket history.
Huge averages at home and against the minnows but pretty bog standard to shit vs other teams. Prior to this his average was 10 ( ouch ) vs SA.
A lot of our batsmen are no where near as good as their records might suggest. Latham is a bit lucky that the other opener is doing considerably worse.
I’m really doubting Conway will feature vs Australia and I’m fearful he’ll go the way of Jeet Raval. I hope I’m wrong.
All this makes Will Young’s dumbfuck dismissal even more infuriating. He had a chance to be 80 odd not out overnight and guide us to a handy first innings lead. Apparently this is the first time he’s batted five in a test match though ( not making excuses ) so it would be nice if he could settle and get an extended run ( if he earns it )

Probably get injured😀

@MN5 I don't mind that Tom Latham pads his average against the minnows, because so many others, over the years, have chucked it away.
We could potentially lose this test through a lack of proper application.
People who turn up and don't play sensibly - Flem's teams were full of them.
-
I haven't seen any of today's play, but Young sounds like he was the biggest idiot of them all. He had/has a big chance in this game to stick his hand up. He may not get many more.

Blundell's recent record with the bat can't be too flash at all.
Without checking the stats, Blundell has that rocks or diamonds sense about him that Latham has.
-
Fuck. That is so Black Caps.
A couple of changes and the team looks so much weaker.
No Mitch, no Kylo ... eek

@booboo well, two test rookies replacing strong performers will do that to ya.
I think we didn't respect the pitch and the bowling enough. Anyone who tried to hit (Wagner aside) got out fast. It was a 'run at 2-3 an over for a day' kind of scenario, and grnd the bowlers into the ground for the second innings. Young was the most egregious.
Hands up who thought the pitch would get easier to bat on yesterday and today? I did - but it's imitating a subcontinent pitch rigth now, and turning to shit fast. Fourth innings will be tough.
Also, don't forget India England tonight at 5pm. Test cricket from 11am to midnight = happy NZZP

One of them took a four fer. The issue isn’t the new guys, it’s the form of some of the old guys…..
….and as much as Santner did well last test it’s a a stretch to label him a “strong performer”

I missed this. Was this an injury in this match? Or did he come into the match injured? (Because if so, that would have tipped the scales on retaining Santner for this match)
