Lol comparing Ravindra to Kane at this stage of his career is pointless. Let's see where Rachin is in five years time before even thinking about making such comparisons. Kane's our greatest for a reason and Ravindra will have to play out of his skin for a long time to better him. For New Zealand's sake I hope he does, but right now let's just enjoy having such batting class in one team.
Hopefully Conway can get back to his best aswell and we'll be looking damn healthy at the top.
I’m glad someone said it. A double ton at home is terrific but it’s nothing the likes of Latham, Conway, Nicholls ( remember him ? ) etc haven’t achieved before. Jesse Ryder too before he went off the rails…..
Sinclair is another possible comparison ...
Rachin is looking good and could well be a star. I kinda like the kid.
Cool it with the over the top praise though.I left Taylor out. His career was one of absolute quality ( even if he slumped a bit at the end )

Daryl Mitchell has batted the house down too since his debut. Let’s not forget him.
His career has been amazing. He has slightly been under the radar, yet I see he is ranked 4 in ICC test batting.

Amazing for a guy who only got in due to injury...

Even much maligned Henry Nicholls had his moments too

@MN5 I got nothing against the guy. I was a big Nicholls fan for a long time. He just isn't deserving of his spot right now.
Hope he finds form again and puts pressure on the incumbents.
There ain't nothing personal in my analysis - hare brained and illogical though it might be.

I have to say some of these NZ test grounds look awful places to watch cricket at. Bugger sitting on a grass bank in the sun all day.
I agree.
Are there trees planted that have not yet grown? Or just going to be tough forever?
Trees at the top of the bank will be great once fully grown. Shade relatively easy to find at ND games, not so internationals...
Bonus of the grass banks and play areas is that it's much easier to be at the ground with restless kids.

@booboo good question 😀ask him

Over rates are just generally horrendous these days. Really noticeable at the ground in games where the "DJ" isn't blasting music constantly.
If Hammond had to listen to the Exponents and Dave Dobbyn between overs his career might have risen to even greater heights

83/6 The quality of the SA starting tos how through unfortunately.
Only question now is whether to enforce the followon. Modern way is 'no' - but there's something to be said for the foot on the throat, provided the bowlers are in good shape. Only 34 overs so far...
-
Matt Henry fucken boomfa !
Gosh it’s a shame his career started so badly. His improvement is pretty damn impressive. He’s stopped his obsession with Mrs Macs.
75 wickets in 22 tests vs 76 in 19 for Jamieson…..but the difference in average is huge.
In saying all that maybe the right decision to play him and not Wags. The latter getting no wickets in his last test didn’t help and Henry has been in fine form.
Of course if it were up to me both would play and Santner would be carrying the drinks but there you go.

Henry really struggled early in his career when he was the cover bower and just got random tests here and there, never managed to find good rhythm. Probably got a little unlucky in that those tests also happened to be tough conditions, but also wasn't good enough in those games to force himself into the starting lineup.
I'm glad he's done well though. He's always looked so good domestically, I had always thought that with a decent run he'd find himself.

Yeah these guys are gonna be 350 short if they’re lucky. But do the BCs really need to bat again for a quick 250 or so that probably isn’t necessary ?

Excellent first class record but I thought with the three seamers being ensconced in the team and Jamieson emerging he’d run out of chances but he has come back and done brilliantly.

I agree and the Proteas are one of the worse at it.
The game is built for TV viewing so lots of breaks. Then there’s the water, gloves and bat changes, tactically left /right combo decisions by teams meaning fielding changes more frequent.

Our first WTC was built on the Aussies getting docked points for a slow over rate. I'm not big on schadenfreude, but goddamnit couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of sandpaper and spirit of cricket wielding blokes
