Black Caps v Australia

I'll still be like a cat on a hot tin roof tomorrow expecting Australia to snatch this one from us, but for now it's a relief to see us finally fighting against Oz.
I have vague memories of being a fourth former watching Tony Blain help us get home by 5 wickets (and his 'big walks' to square leg between deliveries). Watching that live I didn't think it'd be 31 years until we had another sniff v Oz at home.

If we bowl well we can win but I have a sinking feeling.
it's a lot of runs to get. If this pair get a hundy and a fifty, that still leaves 50 runs from Carey + tailenders. It's tough.
That said this pitch looks veyr easy when the ball is old. Monstrous first hour tomorrow ... Test Cricket is No 1, just unbeatable for tension and drama.

I was a sixth former….
From memory that was just as that Oz team became awesome and went and claimed the Ashes right afterwards with their top order and Warnie plundering the hapless poms.
Lovely unbeaten knock from Ken Rutherford too, or as I like to call him the Matt Henry of batsmen.

NZ's to lose
Nah, you guys could easily run down this total
N. Z'S. TO. LOSE.
Fuck off. We're playing Straya. You guys will walk it in. Century each to these dudes. Day and a half to spare.
Am not joking.

Eat 14 kilos of sweaty camel bag.
Home team advantage. Plenty of time in the bank.
NZ level the series by tea

Fuck off with your underdogging. You're Straya. We're NZ. This ends one way. We've already fucked our chance letting you pricks off the hook this evening.
If this was any other opposition you'd say NZ to win. But Straya. Fuck Youse.

Just need a century to each of Head and Marsh, and we are cooked. Something which is well within each of their capabilities

I know we are going to drop a sitter

I think it's anyone's game, although the test being so advanced doesn't benefit us as we'd rather be bowling on a day 5 pitch.
We have two main hopes really. First that the ball does a bit in the morning and we get some luck (E.G. they knick the balls that seam). If that fails then we'll be throwing the ball to Phillips (pretty quickly I hope, gotta give him runs to play with) and hope he can get it to really rip.
For Aussie, if they can get through the first hour unscathed they'll be very confident they can take care of this total. An early(ish) wicket could expose them though.
And more specifically, if Marsh is still there after the first hour Aus will be a long way towards winning. That guy has become a destructive player when he gets going.

Yesterday worked out almost perfectly for us (bar another 50 odd runs would have been great)
Having just a session to bowl at the Aussies meant the bowlers could go hard, then rest up and get stuck in again this morning. The Aussie batsmen didnt have the luxory to wear Henry, Seers and co down.
Now its D-day, the test will finish today most likely early in the last session...hopefully much much earlier (if @NTA is to be believed)
