Young out once again after doing the openers job but ultimately scoring fuck all.
I wish he’d done better this series
I agree, I hope Latham does better as well, also found wanting of late
Youngs innings of 9, 15 and 14 have come off 50,52 and 57 balls respectively so it’s not like he’s not been hanging around and surviving for a bit.
Just a frustrating run of such nothing scores.

I think Young has done as well as to be expected given his technique and talent against the best bowling unit in the world.

Ideally one of the openers would have gone on with it, but after being put in, seeing off the new ball is still a pretty good result. Stage set for Kane and Rachin now.

God we suck

I wish people would stop making predictions on here

That might be the worst shot of Rachin's career so far
Sounded very irresponsible for a number four so close to lunch. The Radio commentators certainly went on about it.

That was a big blow before lunch which handed Au the session, was pretty even till then I thought. Hopefully it's drying out a bit now and we can bat a bit of time.
-
@Windows97 would love to see that stat for all the other top batters in the world I’d guess it’s pretty similar

Huge pressure on Williamson now, who only avarages a mere 38 against Ausitralia.
His caerrer averages are quite interesting, high 30's against Aus, IND and ENG, 65+ against everyone else.
Worth noting at the end of his career when deciding if him or Hadlee is number one.
Paddles didn’t have anywhere near as much of a chance to decimate the minnows.

It was awful. A wide ball that he had no business to play at the over before lunch having only recently got to the crease

@Yeahtheboys For quick reference Sam Smith averages 56 V Eng and 66 V India and below that against everyone else excluding the West Indies (avg 125). He's a bunny against the Bangles however with a mere average of 30

Hazlewood is exploiting the seam brilliantly. Class player.

in isolation that looks bad
For India and Aus there is a bit of mitigation
Only 11 tests v Aus, 7 of them in Aus
13 test v India, 8 of them in India
So of the two good teams, 24 tests, 15 away. The England record is weirder. 16 tests, even split home and away. And yet lowest average of the lot.
It's certainly not great.
Kohli averages 47 v Aus over 25 tests, and 42 v England over 28 tests
Root averages 40 v Aus over 34 tests, and 57 v India over 30 tests
Smith averages 56 v England over 37 tests, and 66 v India over 19 testsSo Kane gets less chances to score against this better teams, but you would find it hard to make an argument he's seized the chances he has been given. Playing away so much doesn't help, but it's not like he's cashing in at home either.
It's relatively easy to see why fans from the bigger nations don't hold Kane in the same esteem as us.
But they miss the point that relative to everyone else in NZ history, he stands out like dogs balls.I got to watch him score a hundred at the 'gabba. I'll always remember that.
