Black Caps v Australia
-
What was I saying about making them work hard for wickets?
Well that is the exact opposite of that Tom.
Poor
-
Kane flails hisbat all around one wide down leg side. Somehow manages not to touch it - thank fuck!
-
And now Kane gets away with a wild swing first ball.
Is it compulsory for the Black Caps to each drop 40 IQ points every time we bat against Australia?
-
Latham out to a ball that should have gone for four. I don't mind the shot but not great.
Wasted review by Aussie.
Lyon is causing problems.
-
How does cricket still have sight screen issues in 2024?

It was a stupid little smiley face, wasn't it?
IT fuckers!

It must be that they're actually trying too hard instead of playing their usual game.
Latham should have cut that ball for four every day of the week - though it probably bounced more than he expected.
-
Bit different to racking up centuries against South Africa B eh Kane
-
KW gone. Any slim hope we had of salvaging this is well and truly gone too.
-
Australia probably have their noses in front now.
Need these two and Mitchell/Phillips to scor big runs. Really good opportunity for them to stamp their marks on the team.

Yep time to stand up under pressure and see how good you really are.
-
Aussie waste a poor review there. Only one left now.
-
That is a typical Will Young dismissal pushing out in front with hard hands nicks off.

Sadly we appear to be found wanting

Always going to happen Australia have a big mental edge over our batsmen.
We are half out before we get to the crease. -
The chase is on. Young sacrifices his wicket to avoid slowing the run rate further.
-
The catching of Australia is light years ahead of NZ which has been shithouse amateur time.
-
And we used to have a formidable reputation in the field too
-
Well, definitely a fun test to be a part time spinner
-
That was pies from Young there. Just let that go.
Ravindra and Mitchell are the right pair for this situation
-
Mitchell also with some interesting decision making early.
-
Lyon will get five. He’s looking all sorts of dangerous.

If Phillips can get 5 wickets then Lyon should be able to

Not true, Southee and Young both pulled off absolute rippers.

Southee after dropping two relatively easier ones earlier...

I’m always a glass half full type of ferner
-
Mitchell looking highly unsettled right now, trying to hit himself into form. Looking every bit a walking wicket

Talking about the amount of catches that are actually caught and not dropped in this series.
So yeah very true. -

Scott Kiggeliens pathetic effort doesn’t help my argument I must say
-
God, I don't know what would be worse. Get rolled for 150 and losing by 200+ or getting through to about 300, losing by 75 and knowing that we probably with this game if we performed just a little bit better on day 2.
-
Can we agree that Ravindra is one of our form batters right now? Fighting 50 there
-
Mitchell looks scratchy but the point is he's still there and starting to look a little better.
50 partnership up. Come on boys one more over and start tomorrow with confidence.

He has all the time in the world if he wants it. Raining out here just before and Monday looking dodgy it must be said though.
Nice work from these two after KW went. Ravindra looking classy and Mitchell dogged.
Combine that with Phillips efforts earlier and NZ have definitely won the day.

I still believe that all we really need is one big century and a number of support innings. We've got these two and some decent batting to come.

Yeah, after Williamson went I thought it was game over but now I'm starting to believe. I totally think they need to move Phillips up one spot, especially given the game he's had so far, let him bat with batters so he can take his time at first.
-
Haddin needs to learn to say Ravindra. Mate it's not Ravinda yah plonker.
-
@canefan he's definitely a big game player that's for sure. Will only get better aswell.
-
Game will be over tomorrow one way or the other.
Monday won’t be needed. -
Really pleasing to see Ravindra bat well. Hopefully Mitchell settles down tomorrow

Yeah he is a specialist batsman who bowls a bit who bats seven. That seems unbalanced.
Mind you the bowling side of things may change somewhat after today.
