Black Caps v Australia
-
On the bright side noticable improvement from the Black Caps.
We went from loosing the game due to a 100 run partnership for the 10th wicket to loosing the game due to a 100 run partnership for the 6th wicket...
Or is that actually getting worse?
-
yeah fuck like that
-
Aus just blew out from $1.09 to $1.44
Come on!
-
far out and now TAB has us as favourites!
-
If Carey is there at the end they win
-
Gee it's a tough watch, hiding behind the couch while you're at work is largly frowned upon here.
-
Sears has had a fine debut - 147k is bloody good pace
-
@mariner4life we'll keep you on
-
this is a hard watch. There is no tension like Test Cricket done well
-
Time to get Henry back on - Sears starting to spray them
-
Sears is trying too hard and losing his line.
-
ABS - anyone but Southee.
-
Class from Carey.
The difference is Blundell has offered nothing with the bat
-
I should probably check his stats, but Blundell does feel like a modern day Matthew Sinclair. Either scores big or does little.

in fairness, Carey hadn't either until today.
-
Can't say I was a big fan of Wags's bowling over the last year, but to think he was missing out to Timmy and Scott...
-
I can't see an argument for a better player in world cricket than Pat Cummins
Best bowler in the world
Good tactical captain
Very useful bat who delivers in the clutch. -
Sumo: "He's desperate to get Carey on strike!"
... if he really was and was worried about the ton, he'd just block the over out...
-
Ah well, we dared to dream…..
-
Goes back to the fact that NZ were 60-70 runs short
-
Cummins is a shitcunt confirmed
-
or didn't take catches
-
Time for a refresh, starting with the coach and captain.

when are we even back in white?
Pretty sure for Aussie this is their last test until hosting India next summer
-
At this rate, our generation will be in the proverbial rocking chairs talking about 1993 and Rutherford and Blain taking us home...
-
-
Brutal. No luck for us today, so many half chances and missed edges. But also only had 3 bowlers that were actually looking threatening (and one of those a part timer) limited us as did straying down leg to Carey in particular.
-
Cummin's with 32 - sheesh...
A pretty weak performance from our bowling stock, Henry couldn't repeast his heroics of the first innings and catch's win matches comes to haunt us.

Never in doubt.
You and your false modesty can just take a hike pal.
-
We were always 70/80 runs short, with Southee leading the attack we are just treading water with an inability to strike as often as we needed to.
A bowling attack of Henry,O'Rourke,Sears backed by Santner as we need some one to hold an end down when the ball is old and Phillips is now a genuine option. That attack could bowl sides out cheaply, Jamieson when back then we have the option of bowling 4 quicks and not playing Santner.
Sorry Timmy but you are just wasting the new ball now time to gracefully retire. -
I'm not angry, just disappointed.
-
Tbh. That was a fairly mediocre Aussie team. Still world class bowling, sure. But very below average batting.
Bit of an opportunity missed, me thinks.
They'll likely be mid-cycle of a peak when we next play them ....
-
-
the series averages make interesting reading
Our batting is obviously complete shit. But theirs isn't much better. Cam Green's knock in the first the stands out like dogs balls. The first test is completely shaped by his knock. In the 2nd test Marnus gets 90 to give them a decent lead while everyone else fails. Then Carey and Marsh see them home.
If you had have told us before the series that we could have Smith, Khawaja, Head and Marnus all average less than 25 you would think we're in the game.
the problem is, 3 scores of 3 and one of 90 is probably more conducive to winning games than 4 innings of 25, for the same series average. -
Carey probably saved his career today.
So did Southee by getting a wicket.
-
If the 9 dropped catches stat from earlier in thread is correct , and for this test series only. So, making some big assumptions ...
Out of 37 dismissals. 24 were catches.
Don't know if Blundell dropped any of them. Assuming they are 9 dropped outfield catches. 7 of the 24 catches taken in series were by the keeper.
So, possibly that is 9 dropped and 17 taken outfield catches?
-
@Rapido I'm alarmed that this does not have people more upset. Sure a few happen.. but nine lol, this is terrible

Could Nathan Smith also be an option? Pretty good new ball bowler? Handy bat.

Maybe good Cricketer maybe an allrounder option.
I don’t think he is an all out test strike bowler like the others I mentioned.
