I'm pretty sure NZ hasn't played a test in Oz since 1985
NZ played a 3 test series in Australia in 2019/20
I have no memory of this. I think you may be hallucinating @Chris
Must be I was at 2 of the tests
We got smashed in all 3 tests harden up take the beltings with the wins.nah, fake news bro
Soft
hahah. We have to cop it.
Reality is they are better than we were. If we'd played them a year before, we would have really run them close - but with Smith and others back to prove a point, we just struggled to make the key breakthrough. Wags (and others) induced edges and spoons that just didn't go to hand in the first test ... and then they got away, we faced the pink ball, Ferguson got injured and the wheels fell off.
The mental toughness I see in the team just wasn't there against Aus. it's really weird - we have a mental block or something.
Yeah I agree that mental block v Australia is really evident.
It is talked about in Australian cricket circles how NZ are beaten before they play.We need to over come that to beat Australia consistently,it is a reverse of the Trans Ta$man Rugby rivalry
Frustrating as a kiwi. -

out of curiosity how many of those 35 home tests are not India or England? Maybe 5?
17 v Eng and Ind.
Three vs us which are better forgotten
They could have come from anywhere ...

Yeah you have to tag him these days to get his attention. It’s like he has a life outside the fern or something.

So any chance Pakistan will be any more competitive second time round ?
That Aussie team looks incredibly settled and chock full of class players.
If you’re picking an ANZAC team I’m not sure how many kiwis would actually make it. KW walks in, Conway and Mitchell SHOULD get in but neither are givens. Does Latham sneak ahead of Warner possibly given both are kinda home track bullies ? I’d pick Blundell ahead of Carey…..but as for the bowlers……is Jamieson slowly getting found out after a sensational start to his test career ?
Over to you @NTA
-
@MN5 look, son, NOBODY from your bowling lineup makes it. Not even the bench.
Starc
Hazlewood
Cummins
LyonNot even remotely up for discussion.
KW at 3 in place of Labiashame.
Maybe he moves up to replace Warner.
Other than that? Struggling to see a better option.

Harsh but true.
Conway and Mitchell are 50/50 with some strong options. The latter more of a chance to replace Head perhaps. Or maybe KW gets in, everyone moves down one and Mitch Marsh fucks off.
Both still relatively early in their test careers but have shown some serious class to warrant a mention.
This applies to Jamieson too.
But our fading pace trio of SBW doesn’t really have a shit show….which is rough because all three sit very highly in the annals of our ( shit compared to yours ) history.
…..as for any of our spinners….Fuck.

At his peak I would have Boult over Starc, purely for consistency. Very similar records both average 27.49 have played roughly the same number of tests and taken roughly the same number of wickets, but from 2016-19 Boult definitely shaded Starc
Crikey would you look at that ?
Maybe Starc shades it with his batting if that becomes a factor ? Any tail ended averaging over 20 is very handy.
So here’s my team if it needed to be picked to play a test tomorrow.
Warner
Khawaja
KW
Labuschagne
Smith
Mitchell
Blundell
Starc
Cummins
Lyon
HazelwoodJamieson ( 12th man )
In most cases the 50/50 batting calls just have to go the Aussies way. Conway and Latham possibly unlucky but you can’t fault the guys in front of them. Head and Marsh lose out to KW and Mitchell respectively. Blundell gets the keeper role by virtue of a better batting record. Jamieson to me would be first cab off the rank if any bowlers get injured.

Latham - Warners had his good score anyway
Plus if any prick deserves to be deprived of his 'fond farewell' it's that grub.
Still only gets four BCs out of 11 in the team. I might be inclined to go Conway over Latham. Not sure.
@NTA made a good point about the main difference being in the bowling line ups. Ours are unfortunately just that little bit past it or still ( Jamieson ) a bit green.
