@mariner4life difference between a player launching at a guys head (Joseph) and a player positioning himself at a low position and then collecting a guy that is dipping (Tuputupu on Vaa'i).
Whether I agree with the Tuputupu tackle or not at least Union don't have the stigma of letting shit slide on a regular basis. Thankfully they got it right last night but consistency would be great.

Interestingly Reece Walsh passed his HIA on the night, however it was deemed a Cat 1, means
a) he could not come back on
b) triggered the 18th man
c) will still have to stand down for the Broncos..but no duty of care of course for the player -
could also mean Paul Gallen was right all along and that Queenslanders do have two heads

yeah we made the same point there. It has happened so often this year with guys getting ruled out with concussion (which certain people would know if they actually watched games) that i thought it was a good move. Having a full time fullback be able to come in and play fullback was definitely a bonus as well.
Hynes was very ordinary, and the Blues attack was shithouse. Both tries came from kicks, and kicks that were the afterthought after the first option broke down. And Qld's first try was off the back of the 7 tackle set from Hynes kicking dead. Though it would be churlish to blame Nicho for the easy metres QLd made in that set.
The other thing that won't help Hynes was his defense was awful.

80% of Lomax's kicks this year have come from kicks..and how many attacking kicks did Hynes try? lol about 2, Hynes didn't do well enough at all

both the same circumstances, upward trajectory at guys slipping, but at different speeds. Rugby got theirs wrong, not league. You are just inconsistent depending on what jersey they wear, kinda like Madge above.
What gets let slide by the way? Those tackles happen so very rarely that it is a surprise. On the flip side, guys get taken out of games every weekend for failing HIAs. Because, you know, that's how you protect your athletes.
Just admit your comment is at least a decade out of date and we can all move on

I like that rule that if it looks bad on the field, you can't fake it to come back on. Also, how fucked are Reece's baselines that he can pass after definitely being sparked out??

pretty bad that he can act quite normal quite quickly, didn't look like faking to anyone, but also I guess this is where the compulsory 11 days comes in for any delayed symptoms.

How can you say they are both the same circumstances? Joseph is flying through the air, Tuputupu had his legs planted on the ground.
League let shit slide all the time, guys walking around groggy without any attention happens on a regular. Rugby act on shit straight away to the point it's sometimes overbearing as a user, but I get it, the players safety comes first. There is a clear difference between both sports in that facet of the game.
The total irony of your comment is that I think League are the ones living ten years in the past when it comes to acting on head knocks.

this is not recent fact at all, not in the last couple of years. With TV coverage and independent doctors. You might see someone walk around groggy but they're always getting picked up, if not directly after incident, within the next few minutes and assessed.

@bayimports it's happened in most of the games I've watched this year. I've seen four incidents in 2024 alone that absolutely warrant questioning but were never even looked at.

FYI Grade 2 Reckless (not careless) High Tackle 1st Offence approximate range 4-5 matches, apart from Reece appearing to be slipping before contact, I doubt there is little reduction from that range
