Missing a good Kiwis performance too.
I guess league taking over in NZ, as the media and social media has been telling me, is a bit premature?
Whilst this is probably true I just don't think Kiwis do live sport anymore.
Apart from the All Blacks and the Wahs bandwagon there's been no crowds since forever (and I suspect the latter will falter if the cop a couple of early losses).

@KiwiMurph Correct, and we beat them 18-0 in 1985.
Was that Clayton Friend?

In other news the Tongans were shown up to be the pretenders they are on their NH tour getting whipped by England. I'm kind of disappointed we didn't get the chance to play them as we would have run up 50+ against them.
Konrad Hurrell is so fat I thought he was Ben Tamiefuna's slightly lighter skinned brother.

Not quite a blackout but in the days of 3 point trys and all our players playing in nz we beat them 24-3 in 1971 , was massive at the time . I think it was over another 10 years ( Lowe years ) when we beat them again.

CNK also played the last two matches with a broken rib

Was that expected in any way? Saw the highlights, nice trys
No way. I always live in hope but after watching them last week and how the Aussie forwards really took us to task, we were up against it.
The way we started the match really stung the Aussies. Even though we made a bunch of mistakes the way we hit them on both sides of the ball was with real force. And we hit them in waves too. There was a bit of a Warriors (good this season Warriors) shape to our attack.
But even with the forwards dominating, we needed our spine to take advantage and whilst man for man the Aussie 9, 6 and 7 are probably better players, our boys had excellent games and really stood up. Add the pace out wide and a fullback that always looks threatening, we pulled off what is a miraculous win.
In saying all that, the Qld origin team would’ve played better than that Aussie side…

I think that's old thinking, or Origin first thinking, Hughes easily matches DCE. Munster still shades Brown but it looked like a changing of the guard last night.

@kiwiinmelb 1983? We beat them 19-12 at Lang Park?
Haha my dad always talks about that 1971 game, says he sat on the dirty bank behind the posts with his dad.

Was that " Big Joe Row Party. They're cutting us to pieces and they're doing it with all the skill in the world ... " / Darrell Eastlake ...
And Tamati v Dowling?

Tamati Dowling is so iconic, I can't remember if I saw it on TV at the time, or as a young fulla later. But I'd guess that incident was later, either late 70s or early 80s?
I remember O for Olsen and his toe hack, I remember Bailey's team beating the Oz in Melbourne (?) in 1991 as I was in first year uni and we made a makeshift stand in the hostel TV room, and of course who could forget Billy Slater's brain explosion that helped us win the RLWC?

1991 Bob Bailey's team. Tawera Nikau, McCracken, Lonergan, Todd, Freeman, Blackmore. I once walked up and shook Dean's hand in a bar, mentioned that amazing game. The big fulla was very sporting
