How exactly is that a league v rugby argument Kevin?
-
I dont think the sell out crowds are all about the Warriors.
The NRL is a $700 million a year comp and every two weeks a high quality Australian NRL team comes to town.
You cant say this about Super rugby, most of the Australian rugby union teams who cross the ditch are crap.
The Wallabies and ABs are high quality. Dunno what SR is worth, but cant be much more than $100 mil.
You get what you pay for...
And I didn't even mention the real pro sports juggernaut in this part of the world - Australian football (AFL) - $1000 millon annual revenue!

It’s wasn’t about the sport per se, just saying that as a supporter it’s easier supporting winning teams I.e. NZ rugby teams, than supporting the Warriors. Always next year.

Agreed it’s a fab competition. The marketing and promotion are top notch. The Warriors sell out crowds are part that, part one NZ team, but high this year because last year was a breakout season. But inconsistency has returned this year…so start of next year will be interesting.
-
When Shaun Johnson is effective he digs into the line with his runs. When he is not he runs across field early and passes too far behind the line. We have seen more of the latter this this year. The effectiveness of Nikore’s runs in particular are reduced.
Warriors just not doing the basics well - 6th play has been rubbish.
SJ was much more effective with running game in 2nd half. But he can’t just wait until defences are tired, because the game might be over, as it was tonight.
-
Very little of note happened this weekend.
Except lol at the Broncos.
St George probably got themselves a finals spot with a win in Melbourne. But there is still only a game in it.
Penrith have won 4 straight and are a close to the minor premiership now. Four in a row incoming. -
For the best unfortunately.
He's had his ups and downs, but he's done some unreal shit in a warriors jersey, and was 100% of a Daly M last year

In hindsight he probably should have retired on a high last year. Unfortunately few athletes get to go out on top on their own terms

Imagine finishing last year that would have been great! Outstanding contribution over the years to the warriors and NZ.
Would have been great to have seen an inform SJ this year, sadly not to be.
All the best to him -

Look to be a Warriors supporter you have to be a little crazy, a little insane even, have cups of concrete close by when certain Aussie commentators and social media tee off or we are the but of all jokes, be accepting that the world (the reffing and TMO world) are against us, and live with one newspaper article a season outside of Auckland.
This never gets old though in a cringey Aussie sort of way…

well start with the Warriors and ANOTHER heart breaker. Incredible game made by two flawed teams. Stirring warriors comeback. Extra time. And we lose to a fucking SOS boomer on the angle? Fuck right off. Goal kicking is important kids.
Weekend started with a poor Melbourne win that had everyone thinking they are battling now that the whips are cracking. Munster is awful, and they are taking un_melbourne shortcuts.
But then Penrith had to stage yet another big comeback to get over the Eels.
the previously fling Titans got a hiding at home from the broken Sharks. And there might be real chat that maybe Nicho Hynes was a one-season wonder.
Manly beat Canberra in canberra
The Cowboys embarrassed themselves against the down and out Broncos. No one thought they were a threat in September anyway, but this rammed it home. As long as Payton doesn't suddenly get smart and elevate Clifford from the Pride i don't care.
The Bulldogs beat the seriously average Dragons. Flanagan the younger got bitty on Critta and will miss the rest of the year surely.
Fucking warriors
Knights beat the Tigers in an entertaining Sunday arvo.I have seen nothing that says Penrith don't win the GF. Only injury stops them. Melbourne might be the same they have been for years, a high enough floor that they win most games during the regular season and finish top 4, but a low enough ceiling that when everyone steps up, they lack the quality to go with them.
Roosters didn't play do right now they are still frauds.
The Dogs and the good Manly are the smokeys for the GF. -

My mate and I were discussing how he rightfully wasn't getting much game time for the Dolphins this year and how he looks like the least talented half to ever play the pro game. Not just egg on our faces, but the whole fucking omelette.
-
that was karma for us calling him the work experience kid
-
We kick a couple of goals during that match and we don't have to worry about SOS. Seem to get some things right and then make some basic mistakes.
Kicking is not an optional extra in the NRL anymore and since when does a coach not have a back up kicker, if the first one is having an off day.
Entertaining game anyway, just a pity we were on the wrong side of the final blowDont know who stops Penrith

Webster should be looking at next year, and a few guys should be given the freedom to find new homes if they can.
We have an absence of strike players out wide. CNK tries hard but he doesn't spark much. We're short at wing. The soul glow enigma can go, he's a net negative. The other wing was an issue all year. Our centres need a lot of work, and our edge defense is appalling. What to do with Roger?
I fear for the halves. CHT is broken mentally and will cost us more games than he wins. TMM plays okay, and maybe as the organising half will be okay. Kicking game suspect. Metcalf has got better the longer he has been out, based on a couple of decent running tries early on.
Tohu at lock will be even slower and even more broken next year. Everyone worked out his passing game too. What makes Yeo so good at it is, if you look for the pass he'll hold the ball and burn you for 15m. Tohu doesn't have that any more.
More strike edge players.
I hope fish can motivate the propping group. Barnett should be captain next year. AFB's tries need replacing. And the game plan needs more risk involved. We are not Penrith. No one is. read the game. Tries are scored from further out. 5 good yardage hit ups and a safety kick does not work for us.
Webster has his work cut out to prove 2023 wasn't a huge fluke based on two guys having the best years of their career.
-
I feel for CHT, the kid took time away from the game for mental health problems and then we give the kid the sole pressure to kick goals with no back up..
also surprised not one player said "let me have a go"
you're right though, he will cost us more than we will win while he doesn't get support
Im assuming Pompey kicks when he is back anyway, but still should be other options.
plenty of gaps in roster, hoping some improve with age, but others that have already aged, should think about what they actually contribute
-
@bayimports well it was fine while it lasted.... 🙄
