Which team falls out of the 8 to make way for the Hawks?
Genuine 'anyone can win it' vibe at the moment, Swans been hit with injury and look flat.
Blues lose a few key players, 5 day break, but looked very flat indeed. Port completely locked them out in the second half.
-
picking anything this year is fucked but
GWS could easily not win again having re-looked at their draw. Hawks, Lions, Freo and the Bulldogs is basically the 4 most form teams.
I really wanted to say Carlton but they will at least beat West Coast
-
The Bomber fans meltdown on SEN radio this morning has been quite funny.
One supporter rang up and said I’ve been through all of high school, Uni and changed careers since the Bombers won a finals match.
-
oh i love a good AFL fan melt
I'll have to see if any where good enough to make social media
-
AFL sucks and the bloods may never win again, back to supporting no winning teams
-
Footy is fucking glorious aye @ACT-Crusader ?
yesterday was a crazy day.
With 3 minutes to go Hawthorn and GWS were close to swapping spots, with GWS looking like missing finals. Then 3 late goals and now GWS are 4th and the Hawks are probably done for the year.
Essendon could start booking september holidays and Freo were eyeing off second and then 5 straight goals, and a behind with a few seconds left, and the Dockers are 6th and Essendon aren't dead yet.Carnage at the top with the Swans beaten by 112, and Carlton losing again to drop to 8th.
Gold Coast are not a serious club.
North win the Spoonbowl.
Dogs with another percentage boosting win.And suddenly the top 4 are all interstate teams, and we are looking at Melbourne being devoid of finals in week 1
-
Brissy put on a masterclass. Their ball pressure was next level. Contested possessions, Saints were a +43 which is crazy. Saints simple aren’t good.
Then Hawks bubble burst and hopefully Sydney’s woes continue. Two teams I can’t stand.
-
Cam Rayner coming good has transformed the Lions.
Big games this weekend
Brisbane host GWS
Freo host Geelong
Carlton host Hawthorn -
Dustin Martin retires
One of the all time great careers, and arguably the greatest finals player ever. The driving force behind that Richmond dynasty, when shit got tight in a GF Dusty would be the one who did something unreal to win it. As explosive as anyone i have ever seen play.
Glad he got 300, glad he retires a Tiger and didn't take pay day on the GC.
-
And Tom Hawkins as well!
Two 3-time Premiership players on the same day.
In fact the combined accolades of the two guys announcing today
6 Premierships
1 Brownlow
1 Coleman
3 Norm Smiths
9x All Australian -
havent had a chance to look it up, are these end of the season or immediate?

As pleased as I am for him, as a club we should've made space. But that's the thrills of rebuilding...

Dusty is immediate i think (he's hurt i think). Hawkins for teh end of the season. I think he needs 4 goals for 800?

Richmond are obviously going to get some good draft picks, freeing up some salary must be handy in so far as a big rebuild

Just when i thought the end of the season was starting to take shape, this weekend happens
To start Sydney sort of got back on track, winning a close one against the Pies. Which given Collingwood's record in tight ones over the past couple of years, is a pretty big result. I think this win gets Sydney back on track. Sport can be funny mentally sometimes.
The bad old Lions came back on Saturday. Up by 5 goals at quarter time (despite only kicking 4) they went on to kick 4.9 for the rest of the game to lose to GWS who 6 straight in the 4th. The Lions finishing with 8.16 is fucking disgraceful.
West Coast with a huge 2nd half got them over North
Geelong went to Freo and won in a big result for them.
Looool at Essington. Needing to beat a team that had not won away from home in 2 years to keep their season alive, the lost to a Suns goal after the siren. When Essendon were 2nd i said it was the falsest 2nd you have ever seen, and that might be my best sporting prediction ever.
Port scraped home over Melbourne, finally putting the Dees out of their misery.
Hawthorn smacked Carlton and jumped over them on the ladder. Carlton are in real danger of missing as their form over the past 2 months is awful.
Saints rammed another spoon nail in to the Tigers
And then the Crows hammered the previously high flying DogsSo 2 of the form 3 teams lost, the top side won again, and Geelong will not die. September is wide wide open

UP THE BLOODS! BACK ON TRACK!

There are still 9 teams a chance of playing finals. I said a few weeks back you would need 13 wins to play finals. That might be 14 now
Sydney are a win in front, and have Essendon and the Crows. They should win at least one of those to finish minor premiers
Port have the SA derby which is 50/50, then away to Freo. Tough run home.
GWS host Freo this week, and finish against the Dogs who might be fighting for their life.
Geelong should beat the Saints and West Coast which might see them finish top 2
Brisbane have the Pies at the MCG and then host Essendon. We suck at the G so will need to win on the last weekend. Should play finals but that fade out on Saturday was very costly to any premiership chance.
Freo have it tough, hosting GWS and then going to Port.
The Dogs will beat North this week, then host GWS
Hawthorn now have to only beat the Tigers and North at the G to play finals.
I had Carlton penned in to win their last two, but now i am not so sure. Hosting West Coast is surely a win, but that game against the Saints is now looking dicey.I still think it is possible for Port in 2nd to miss finals, which with two weeks to go is insane. All hands on deck this week, and it is only Sydney who MIGHT be able to rest anyone in the last week.
